45. Alejandro

I knocked on Matteos door and instead of shouting for me to come in he opened it. There was a guilty look on his face when he opened the door "Hey there Alejandro."

"Matteo..." he knew I knew about him and Gray hanging out "Can I come in?"

"You know I think it's best if we both just smile and move past this without talking about it."

"I'm coming in." he rolled his eyes and moved out of the way. I flopped down on his bed and he followed "So...why are you hanging out with Gray?"

He shrugged "It's not really hanging out. I just have dinner with him once or twice a week."

"That's exactly what hanging out is."

"It's just...I don't know. He has literally no one. I know how much you cared about him and that doesn't just go away. I knew it would have hurt you to see him so miserable so I figured it wouldn't hurt to be nice and make sure he was doing okay a couple times a week. It turns out he's also pretty cool so I just kept going. I bring him food he helps me with car and school stuff."

I looked over at Matteo and smiled "You're such a good kid Matt."

"Shut up." I leaned over and pulled him into a hug "Ale!!! You're going to crush me." 

I chuckled and rolled off of him "I'm really proud of how you turned out. Even if it meant going to see my ex behind my back."

"Are you mad?"

I shook my head "A bit shocked but not mad. I know it means a lot to him. He cares about you enough to text me." Matteos eyes shot open 

"He texted you?"

"Yeah...by the way we have to talk."

"The photos" I nodded "Yeah. He told me. The Costas are so fucking annoying." I nodded in agreement 

"Look until he can confirm it's the Costas I'm uping my security for you and I want you only here and school." he rolled his eyes "It won't be for long but I can't risk you getting hurt."

"Fine whatever you suck"

"You love me Matty."

"Yeah yeah I love you okay. Go away." we both chuckled and I sat up to hug him again before leaving his room. 

As much as I tried to hide it I was really worried. Not for myself but for Matteo, Nick, and Gray. Why would someone send Gray pictures of them if not to threaten everyone in the pictures. It just didn't make any sense of me. 

Who ever was doing this clearly didn't know Gray very well because there was no reason Gray wouldn't have told us. That's why I don't think it's the Costas. I didn't bring the theory up to Gray because once he tracked whoever sent him the photos he'd figure it out but I also had my men on it just in case. 

As I walked into my kitchen I felt a hand on my wrist and I quickly turned around and pinned the person to the wall "Ow fuck Ale!" Nick yelled 

As soon as I realized who it was I back off "Oh my god Nick!" I turned him around and grabbed onto the side of his face "I'm so so sorry. I-i'm a little on edge are you okay?" Nick had spent the night. I got the pictures a little while after he went to bed and I've been up stressing ever since. 

"Yeah I'm okay I just didn't expect you to try and kick my ass" he chuckled but I pulled him into a hug. I felt so bad "What's wrong why are you all jumpy."

"It's nothing."

"Clearly it's something."

"I don't want to worry you."

"Come on baby you can talk to me." he pulled me over to a chair by the counter and we sat down 

"Gray got some pictures in the mail. Some of Matteo...some of...us. I know it's probably nothing and no one could hurt us but I'm just a little worried someones going to try to."

I saw him disassociate for a split second and my heart ached. All this stupid mafia shit coming back to haunt him "It's okay. I'm sure it's nothing." he said quickly 

"Nick I am not going to let anything happen to you I swear. Never again. I will be the one to save you this time if anyone can even manage to get close. Which they won't"

"Ale it's okay don't stress. You're a leader now. No one can touch you." I smiled at him "Come on let's go do something to get your mind off of this."

"I don't know I should be working on finding out who it is."

"Gray will take care of that. You're not doing anyone any good if you're tense. Come on let's go do something."

I rolled my eyes and smiled. I guess I could take a moment to breathe. I didn't sleep at all I needed to relax a little "Fine. Only because I like you." He smiled and grabbed my hand
