LUCY POV
We got back to Melbourne, we were in the hotel this time, the boys had media tomorrow, so we all just watched a movie and fell asleep. I was worried about Lando, he hasn't come anywhere near me since that night a week ago.
The boys woke up early and got dressed, it was funny seeing them in their team uniforms. They all came back to my room to say goodbye. "I'll watch you all on the TV, see you when you're back."
That was that, for the first time since I met them, they were gone, I was alone. I decided to just relax for the day, did some workouts and went for a jog waiting for them to get back. I checked my phone, it was 4, they'd be heading back now. I sat for a second and finished my water. I took a photo, I was at the beach so I wanted a photo of it. I stood up and looked around, I saw Dylan, he was calling after me and was making his way towards me, I started running towards the direction of the track, I looked behind me and he was running too. I was weaving in and out of people I was nearing the track, I went down a side street, I looked behind me as I got to the end, Dylan was still behind me, as I turned around I made contact with someone else's body, a strong body.
It was Daniel Ricciardo. "Lucy?" He asked steadying me. "Daniel, help me." He looked up from me and saw Dylan, he put me behind him. "Go to the track, it's that way." He ushered me. "Thank you!" Dylan tried following me, Daniel stopped him. I ran to the track and I saw Max. "Lucy, what's wrong?" I was out of breath. I held onto him "Daniel...Dylan..." what about them, I was really struggling to talk. "That way."
Max took my hand and walked us that way. We rounded the corner, to see them discussing something. Dylan saw me "Lu, please I really need to talk to you." He looked upset. Max looked at Daniel, he nodded his head with a sad look. "Go speak to him, Lu." Max said. I was sensing something bad, so I agreed.
I walked off with Dylan, I turned to see Daniel hold his arm out to Max to stop him following. Max trusts Daniel, so I trust Daniel. He didn't walk me far, he just walked me to the first bench we saw. It was on a closed off road, so it was just us. "Lu, I've been trying to get in contact with you. I'm so sorry about everything that went on, I'm beyond sorry, but I'm not trying to win you back, I've been needing to tell you something." He looked at me with sad eyes.
He held my hands, "It's your mum...she's...passed way." I shook my head, "No, no.. she can't.." I couldn't speak for the tears forming in my eyes. "I'm really sorry Lu, it happened last night, she was drinking and she fell asleep with a little cig in her hand..." I was now crying hysterically, I know she wasn't the best mum, but she was MY mum. Dylan pulled me into a hug, I cried into him, I was crying, screaming and in denial. I was glad for the quiet street.
Dylan stood me up and carried me back to the track, I was crying too much to even think about walking, I was weak. I could hear their voices as we got closer. My eyes were so blurry, I couldn't see much, I knew I'd been handed to someone, as soon as I smelt them I knew. He'd passed me to Max, his heart was pounding and he was quite warm. I don't think Daniel told him.
I held onto Max, my feet now on the floor, my cries worsening he was holding me so tight. "She needs to go back to the hotel." Max said. "I've got some more media." Daniel responded. "So do I." "Lu, do you want me to call anyone?" Dylan asked me, "Lando..." I said through sobs. Dylan took my phone from my pocket, my pin never changed so he knew it. Max's back was to the track entrance , I heard a phone ring behind him, I snook a glance and it was Lando, Max turned his head. Lando pulled his phone out, saw who it was and the decline the call. "What a dickhead." Max said. "Try Charlie." I said my cries lightening. The picked straight up, "She's at the gates with Max and Daniel, they need someone to take her back, she's not in a good way." Dylan said down the phone. "Right, yep." Was the last response. "He's running here."
Only a minute or two passed, before we heard someone running. "Can you take Lucy back please?" Charles took one look at me, "Of course." "Her phone.." Charles, was only just seeing Dylan for the first time, he looked at Max, "He's friendly." He shrugged.
Charles put his arm around me, and walked me to his car. We drove, back to the hotel, my knees were to my chest on the seat, no music playing. We got back to the hotel, Charles offered me to go on his back, I agreed and he carried me in the hotel. "This is one way of strengthening, eh?" Charles remarked. I didn't feel like laughing. We got back to his room, he laid me on his bed. "Please, lay with me?" Was all I could say. He laid on the bed next to me, I rolled onto my side, put my arm over him and just cried. He supported me the whole time, he was shushing me and stroking my hair and back...just like my mum did when I was upset.
