Ch. 21: Unexpected School Day

Meanwhile at Hexside, Amity was in her first class but was gazing towards the sky and thinking about what she saw after Luz flew them into space.

'I wish I could fly like that.'

Not just the flight but the strength Luz had compared to her. Physical and emotional.

"Miss Blight, can you answer the question?"

Amity turned back to the front, seeing all eyes on her as she was staring off into space. Yet, she still paid attention via multitasking....somehow.

"The answer is 63 B.B." Amity said, knowing he'd history from the Savage Ages aka Before Belos.

"Correct, Ms. Blight." The teacher said.

And back to day dreaming she went, which involved being held by Luz. She was so strong yet so gently at the same time, holding Amity with such care that she thought she was going to melt in her arms if it wasn't for the wind that blew when she took her above the sky. The feeling of safety she felt when Luz was nearby was like nothing ever felt before. Not from her friends and not from her family. Luz was....different and she wanted to know her more.

'That girl... the Girl of steel.'

The bell rang for the class end, bringing Amity out of her daydreams before she grabbed her things. She wasn't aware that there was a threat coming, a big one.

"Lilith failed once again." Belos said through a special device, "You are free to do whatever it takes to get the girl to come."

"Fear not, if she's anything like her father, then she'll be easy to capture." Darkseid said, looking at Hexside.

'To catch the perfect prey, one must you the right bait to draw them out.' Darkseid thought.

He fired an Omega Beam, blasting the door right off the building. The explosion was heard throughout the whole school as students began to panic and teacher rushed to their doors to see the cause. Darksied walked in, an evil smirk clinging to his face.

"Greeting, Hexside School." He said as students began running away.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Bump said as he came out of his office.

"I simply come for one reason." Darksied said, firing an omega beam at the lockers, destroying them, "To destroy this place."

"What?! No!" Bump shouted as he drew a spell circle, summoning a small squad of abominations! "Stop him!"

"Amusing."

He simply fired another omega beam to destroyed all the abominations before it destroyed another set of lockers.

"AAAAH!" Bump shouted, covering his face.

"Is that all you can do?" Darkseid asked as he continued walking.

Luz sat up on the couch, hearing screaming coming from the school.

'Hexside!' Luz thought before rushing out the door, slamming Hooty into the wall!

"OW! My beak!" Hooty said as Luz flew off to Hexside!

Luz made it to Hexside in a couple seconds, landing and seeing the doors destroyed.

"What happened here?" Luz asked, entering and seeing several people injured.

She rushed to someone and moved some debris off them.

"Big guy, gray rock skin, purple clothes. He just showed up and started blasting everything." They said with a groan.

"Don't worry, I'll deal with them." Luz said, "Just try and get out of here."

Luz ran off again, trying to find out where this person was.

What was easy, but worrying, about finding the source was following the sounds of screams and explosions! All she knows was she saw Amity in the persons hand, being to angry to notice who it was. Luz flew at them, slamming into them, making them drop Amity.

"HUUUUUH!" Amity breathed deeply before being caught by Luz!

"I got you!" Luz said as Amity took deep breathes.

"Daughter of Superman, you've finally arrived." Darkseid said as he stood up, rolling his back from the surprise attack.

Luz froze. She knew that voice. But why was he here?! Why was he destroying Hexside?!

'C-Could he be the reason I'm here?!' Luz thought as she held Amity a bit tighter as she shook, which the girl noticed.

"Luz?" Amity asked, seeing a fearful expression in her face.

"Amity... run."

Luz put her down and gently pushed her away with Darkseid looking before them.

"What? But Luz-" Amity said.

"Please! Just run and get everyone you can out of the school NOW!" Luz shouted in a panic.

Amity noticed her scared look and ran. Luz turned to Darksied.

"So, this is where you've been." Luz said.

"Indeed." Darkseid said as he slowly walked towards Luz. "And this is exactly where I wanted you. All alone, away from the coddling of the Justice League and your father."

"So that portal that brought me here, you did that." Luz said with a gulp.

"Well, I was hoping to bring Superman here, but you'll work for what I'm planning." Darksied said, holding out a familiar green rock.

Luz gasped at the sight of it, struggling to stay standing as she moved to hold a wall and move away.

"W-Where did you get that?" Luz asked, losing her strength in its light.

"I always make sure I have what I need." Darksied said, "But now is not the time for talking, it's the time for action."

He fired his omega beams at Luz, making her move as the wall next to her was destroyed, creating a cloud of dust that helped her recover a bit and run!

'I have to get the kryptonite away from him and get him out of the school!' Luz thought.

Luz came to a stop and looked around. She had an idea.

"This is very stupid, but it might work." She said to herself.

Luz turned around and started flying at high speed towards Darksied. She slammed into him, making him drop the Kryptonite and sending both of them out the school through the wall.

"Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!" Darkseid grunted with each wall they smashed through until they crashed into the Grudgby field!

"No Kryptonite now." Luz said as she stood up.

"I wouldn't be to sure about that." Darksied said.

Luz felt weak as a green glow came from behind her. Luz turned and saw Belos, with his staff glowing.

"Greetings, daughter of Superman. I'm glad we can finally meet, face to face." Belos said.

"W-Who are you?" Luz said, feeling her legs about to give out.

"Me? I am the "savior" of this world, Emperor Belos." Belos said as his eyes glowed blue.

His staff began to glow brighter and blasted Luz with kryptonite infused magic, knocking Luz out.

"And you're going to help me."

As the two began to take the unconscious kryptonian, someone was watching from above the school and were shocked by the destruction. She sheer underhandedness that Belos had just shown to capture Luz. She watched them pick Luz up and go through a portal.

'Oh no! I have to tell Eda!' She thought as she flew towards the owl house.
