Y/n stiffens as Kaizo slowly turned to her direction and the space started to disappear as Kaizo leaned closer. The gust of the cold wind of the night brushed through, making Y/n shiver more in nervousness. She could feel his breath fanning against her soft and hot skin.
She couldn't move, in fear and anxiety to ruin the moment. And afraid to make it awkward.
Kaizo leaned closer to Y/n, the gap between their faces diminishing with each passing moment. The cold night air swirled around them, a stark contrast to the warmth that emanated from their close proximity.
Y/n's heart pounded like a drum, the tension in the air nearly overwhelming. Every fiber of her being screamed to move, to do something, anything, but she was paralyzed, frozen in the intensity of the moment.
But before he could could press his cherry lips against hers, the sudden big applause from inside made Y/n jump in surprise.
Y/n pull her head back, looking back on the glass door, inside were many people celebrating. The moment was now finally broken off by the sudden applauding of the crowd inside the venue.
Kaizo's gaze also turned towards the glass door where many people stood and celebrate. Since it was their first engagement ceremony—(Secretly an arrangement).
"We should head back.. they would probably look for us if we stay out for too long."
Kaizo says, before slowly loosening his grip.Y/n didn't want to protest and argue, so she just nodded before Kaizo pulled her back inside.
Y/n felt her head spinning and her world in a spiral, her cheeks were in ablaze. Y/n could still feel his hard grip on her waist.
Back inside the venue, the clamor of the crowd intensified, their voices a mix of laughter, chatter, and congratulations. Kaizo's strong grip on Y/n's wrist was comforting as they headed back, leading her to a quiet corner away from the main commotion.
The dim lighting created an intimate ambiance, contrasting with the boisterous energy elsewhere. Kaizo sighed, releasing Y/n's hand and leaning against the wall. He ran a hand through his hair, his expression conflicted.
"We need to talk," he said, his voice firm but tinged with something else.
Y/n's heart skipped a beat, anxiety mixing with curiosity. She could sense the gravity in his words, the importance of what was to follow.
"What is it?" she managed. She was scared of what was about to come out of Kaizo, she didn't know and she knew it was a bad sign.
"Let's be honest with each other." Kaizo's voice took on a harder edge. He stepped closer, invading her personal space.
"We both know this engagement isn't about love...it never was."j"I know that.."
Y/n lets her head lowered slightly, disappointed somehow. But she knew she couldn't let her emotions get the best of her, afterall, this was all just for an arrangement. Maybe even tomorrow, they would pretend nothing had happened between them, nor the marriage.Y/n was anxious, could she possibly throw these moments away from the back of her mind, could and would she? It was difficult to tell so soon.
Kaizo watched Y/n closely, noting the subtle signs of disappointment on her face. The corners of his mouth tugged downward in a brief frown before he continued.
"This isn't what either of us wanted, but..."
He paused, seeming to choose his words carefully.
"There are expectations, responsibilities..." he trailed off, leaving the sentence hanging. He could see the war in Y/n's eyes, the storm of emotions within her that she was struggling to contain. It made his heart ache for reasons he couldn't quite explain.
"We should just.. distance ourselves from distraction, our plan might work for the future of both our people.."
"Afterall, this is all just for them.. for their safety.."
Y/n glanced back towards the crowded room, with no one noticing the two for now.
She realized how much difficult it would be for her. How is she able to get used into such a thing she never used to do? And if it would to end, what if she wouldn't be able to adapt the new changes in her life?
There were many possibilities, she just needed to choose one of the doors. One door wrong, and it could all end to tragedy.
"You shouldn't think through it too much, Y/n."
Kaizo's hand lifted, and placed against her shoulder comfortingly.
"What matters now is the present, we shouldn't look through the future. Lets have it all out and have fun tonight."Y/n allowed herself to be reassured by Kaizo's touch, finding comfort in the familiar warmth of his hand on her shoulder. His words echoed in her mind, his voice cutting through the maelstrom of doubts and fears that had been plaguing her.
"You're right," she said softly, glancing up at him, the vulnerability she was feeling on full display. "We should focus on the present."
She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. It was only one night. They could make the most of it.
Let the night end for tomorrow— hopefully.
