//Chapter 22// In fear you must dwell

Carl and i awaited for Kaizo's return, we both sat on the sofa in the living room, anxiously waiting. I would continously look out from the window, in hopes of finding and noticing his sihouette outside. We both sat quietly when suddenly the ground begins to grumble and shake, the lamps hanging from the ceiling started to swing.

"W- what's going on?"
I panicked, staying still against the sofa.

"I- i'm not sure-"
Carl's ipad then rings, Kaizo's name pops against the glowing screen.
He quickly answers the call with a panic tone.
"Hello sir?"

"You have to hurry! Get Y/n and yourself out of the house quickly! I dont have any time to explain- but keep Y/n beside you at all cost and run to the evacuation ship! Fang and his friends are waiting there! You must hurry!"

He warns as the call suddenly stopped.
I snapped my head towards Carl worriedly, what if he was hurt?—

"Miss L/n, we must go, now!"

Carl emmidiately grabbed my wirst before running towards the exit. I ran and followed him aswell.
My eyes widen at the view before me.
Fire was spreading everywhere, buildings that was crumbling down and shattered and blood crashed through the streets and roads. Heavy loaded rocks crashed many parked vehicles—
The people screamed and shouted for help and in panic.

I didnt have time to react when Carl pulled me towards his car, he tried pulling the door open though it was jammed. Carl cursed under his breath.
"We have to run for it in order to make it towards the evacuation ship,Miss.."

I nodded, looking back at our house one last time.
"Alright, lets go-"

"BRING ME THE PRINCESS OF CATHERYA!"

The voice roared in anger. The hunters crew then begins their search with a sinister smile.
Oh no.. the good news was, it was going to be hard to find that "princess" amongst the people of the city— and the bad news was, it was me. Yes, i am indeed the heir of my father's throne. Since my mother wasnt blessed with a son, i had to take over as the heir.

(Did i mention that? LOL IDK)

Carl and i ran towards what said to be the evacuation ship, aswell as everyone who seemed to be given the same warning.

"Hurry! Chase after them!"

One of the hunter crew' commands as it sprints to cratch up on us. One running beside us was a lady— probably in her 40's and she seemed to have a very hard time keeping up. She began to fall behind through the crowd.

"Dont let them get away!"
Another one yells, jumping from a vehicle to another.

I turned my head back, noticing the lady falling behind through chaos. My fist clenched tightly, before deciding to stop and run to help her. Which wasnt a good idea, but it was regretting if you would leave someone behind.

"Miss L/n!"
Carl shouted, trying to search for me as i disappeared through the crowd.

I continued to run towards the lady, before finally making back to her. I grabbed her arm, supporting her balance as we run in sync.

"Get them!"

Before us, was a big ass ship which many people started to sprint towards. This seems to be the evacuation ship Kaizo was talking about.
I had to hurry, i quickly dragged the lady in hopes of making it on time.

Suddenly, the door was slowly starting to close when it blows off a small steam, ready for launch.
My eyes widen in horror, the ship was ready to leave.
Were we going to make it?..

"Miss L/n!"
I heard Carl yells at the entrance, holding out his hand for me to grab.

I snapped my head back as i continued to run, the swarm of pirate hunters was chasing not too long behind us.
And the door was halfway closing. It was like my life was flashing in my eyes.

"Take her!"
I yelled, pushing the lady towards the ship when it finally closed. I panted as i came face to face with the metal door.

"What do we have here? A sacrifice? Humans tend to be so... self centered."
One mocks with a sinister laugh.

I slowly turned to face the swarms of hunters before me, the ship behind me then slowly flew off the ground and through the sky.

"She must be the princess!"
One giggles.

"Look at her necklace! That symbols is only given for nobles, a pure blooded.. indeed she is."

I narrowed my eyes, trying to hide the fear that was chilling across my back.
"What do you need from me..?"

"The King of Eclipse will tell you his plans.."
The other laughs.

My mind rushed, backing away as they continued on cornering me.
I trembled in fear, where was Kaizo? Why isnt he here?.. where is he?!

On the ship~

Carl pounded against the door, trying to get it open.

"No!"
He yells in frustration.
"I failed.. i failed.."
He trembles, his mind was rushing with possibilities that might happen to Y/n, and he was all the blame for that.

"Carl?"

Kaizo'z voice echoed through the crowded ship, his head snapping in each corner, studying each face that sat on the metal and cold floor.

"Carl!"
He finally spotted his assistant trembling and kneeling on the ground, his fist against the metal door.

Kaizo stood in horror. No.. this cant be..
"Where's Y/n?— Where's my wife!"
He commands, wanting answers.

"I'm sorry, sir... i failed you.."
Carl's voices muttered as he trembles.
"I failed to protect her.. i'm sorry.."

Kaizo's eyes widen even more, hus fisr clenching to his sides. Maybe in anger? In fear? Too protecticve? He couldnt loose Y/n— not in a million chance he'd let it.
Why was he feeling this way? He couldnt deny it anymore.

No one had thought that someone as cold as Kaizo, even had a chance to fall in love.
And Y/n prooved it otherwise.

"Turn the ship back at once!"
