Adeline's POV
Adeline sat on the edge of Titus's bed, her heart pounding in her chest as she listened to the faint sound of water running in the bathroom. It had been three days since their conversation about the mating bond, and she couldn't stop thinking about it—about him.
She'd spent those days quietly contemplating how to tell him she was ready. The idea of completing the bond still scared her, but the fear of being apart from Titus and Blaze terrified her even more. She needed them, craved their presence. No matter how much she tried to push the thoughts away, they always returned with greater intensity.
But there was one problem. They hadn't even kissed yet. How could she tell Titus she was ready to complete the bond when they hadn't crossed even the most basic of physical barriers?
She glanced down at herself, dressed in his boxers and one of his oversized t-shirts. The fabric felt soft and comforting against her skin, carrying his scent that she had grown so accustomed to. It soothed her, wrapping around her like a security blanket. His smell had become home.
She smiled to herself, the thought of him walking out of the bathroom and finding her like this sending a thrill of anticipation through her. Her cheeks warmed at the thought of what she was about to do.
I have to kiss him first.
That would be her way of telling him she was ready. She would start with that, something small but meaningful. Something that would let him know she wasn't afraid anymore.
The shower turned off, and the sound of running water came to an abrupt stop. Her heart quickened, and she felt a rush of nervous excitement. It was now or never.
Adeline bit her lip, settling herself more comfortably on his bed, crossing her legs and leaning back slightly against the pillows. She had no idea how he would react, but one thing was clear—there was no turning back from this moment. She was ready to take the next step, even if it scared her a little.
The door opened, and a wave of steam rolled into the room as Titus stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing his hair with a towel. His bare chest glistened with droplets of water, his muscles rippling as he moved with effortless strength. The sight of him took her breath away, her heart thudding loudly in her ears. Her core felt the familiar heat, butterflies thudding in that area.
He hadn't noticed her yet, focused on drying off, but when his eyes finally landed on her sitting there, dressed in his clothes, waiting for him, he froze.
"Adeline?" His voice was rough, low, the usual calm replaced by a mixture of surprise and something else she couldn't quite place. He seemed to take a deep sniff, his eyes darkening, blaze was under the surface.
Her pulse quickened under his intense gaze, and she had to remind herself to breathe. "Hey," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath, though she tried to sound more confident than she felt.
Titus dropped the towel on a chair, his golden eyes narrowing slightly as he studied her. There was a tension in his body that hadn't been there a moment ago, his wolf just beneath the surface, watching her as much as he was.
"Is everything okay?" he asked, taking a step closer.
Adeline swallowed hard, her nerves fluttering in her stomach. Here goes nothing.
She didn't answer him with words. Instead, she slowly crawled toward the edge of the bed, closing the distance between them. Titus's eyes darkened, and she could feel the intensity of his focus on her, like a predator waiting for its prey.
"I—" she started, but her voice caught in her throat. She could barely breathe. So instead of speaking, she decided to act. She reached out, grabbing his wrist gently, tugging him closer.
Titus moved, his body obeying her silent command as he stood in front of her, his chest rising and falling with each heavy breath. He didn't say anything, just watched her with a mix of curiosity and something deeper. Something primal.
Adeline looked up at him, her fingers trailing up his arm, feeling the tension in his muscles. She hesitated for a brief second before pulling him down toward her, closing the gap between their faces.
Her lips brushed against his, tentative at first, soft and testing. Titus froze, his breath hitching, but he didn't pull away.
Emboldened by his lack of resistance, she pressed harder, her lips moving gently against his, coaxing him into the kiss. His scent surrounded her, intoxicating and heady, and she felt herself falling deeper into him with each passing second.
Suddenly, Titus responded.
His hands gripped her waist, pulling her closer as he kissed her back, his lips firm and demanding against hers. A low growl rumbled deep in his chest, and she could feel the heat radiating from his body as he pressed her against him.
The kiss was slow but intense, filled with unspoken promises and desire that had been building between them for so long. Her mind was spinning, her heart pounding as their lips moved in perfect sync, her body melting into his. Titus slid one hand up, resting it on her throat, he didn't squeeze, yet it sent another shock in her body. She was convinced he lit a fire in her that only he could tame.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting together as they tried to catch their breath.
Titus's eyes were glowing, his wolf dangerously close to the surface, but there was a gentleness in his expression that made her heart swell.
"I'm ready," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
Titus stared at her, his eyes widening slightly as her words registered. "Adeline..."
"I'm ready to complete the bond," she continued, her fingers brushing against his jaw, feeling the roughness of his stubble. "I want to be with you. Both of you. Forever."
Titus's grip on her throat tightened, his eyes searching hers for any hint of doubt, but there was none. She was certain. She was ready.
"Are you sure?" His voice was rough, strained, as if he was fighting every instinct to pull her closer, to claim her right then and there.
She nodded, her heart steady. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life."
For a moment, they stayed like that, their foreheads pressed together, both of them breathing heavily as the weight of what was about to happen settled over them.
Then, without another word, Titus kissed her again, harder this time, with a sense of urgency that made her stomach flip. She knew there was no going back now, but she didn't want to.
This was exactly where she was meant to be.
