Adeline's POV

That night, Blaze was relentless. True to his word, he hadn't let me do anything for myself. He'd carried me to the bathroom, to get a drink, and even when I tried to get up on my own, his large hands were there, pulling me back to his lap. At first, it was overwhelming—his presence so intense, so dominating. He watched my every move with a protective gaze, like he was afraid that if I so much as stepped away, something might happen.

Normally, I hated this in men. Overbearing, controlling behavior—it felt suffocating, like they didn't trust me to take care of myself. But Blaze? When he acted that way, it didn't feel oppressive. Instead, I felt... safe. Like he wasn't trying to take away my freedom but was making sure that I could let go of my worries.

Some part of me—this small, hidden part—wanted to submit to him entirely. That part of me craved the safety of his dominance, the way his protectiveness surrounded me like a warm blanket. It was almost as if his presence alone was enough to quiet the chaos in my head.

It was confusing.

I had always prided myself on being independent. After everything I'd been through, I had learned to rely on no one but myself. But with Blaze, it was different. He didn't make me feel weak. Instead, I felt stronger, like I didn't have to face the world alone anymore.

His eyes stayed on me, those sharp, golden irises burning with something deeper. Every time I tried to move off his lap, he would growl softly in warning, and I'd settle back down, feeling the heat of him seep into my skin. His hands were large and warm, resting possessively on my hips, and every touch sent a shiver through me.

"Drink," he rumbled at one point, holding a glass of water to my lips. I hesitated, but the look in his eyes made it clear he wasn't asking.

I drank, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction from following his command. He was protective, yes, but it wasn't controlling. It was... instinctual, primal, as though he was following the natural order between mates.

Once I finished, he set the glass aside and pulled me closer, my back pressing against his solid chest. His body was like a furnace, the heat rolling off him in waves. I melted into his embrace, the rhythm of his breathing lulling me into a peaceful calm.

He leaned down, brushing his lips against my ear. "You're mine, Adeline. Always."

I didn't respond right away. My heart was racing in my chest, but not from fear. It was from the strange comfort that wrapped around me like a cocoon when Blaze was near. I wasn't sure how long we sat like that, wrapped up in each other. His hands roamed across my back, soothing and possessive, while his breath tickled the back of my neck.

I should have been annoyed by how possessive he was. Any other man and I would've pushed away, feeling smothered. But this... I didn't want him to stop. I craved the security he provided, and the more time I spent in his arms, the harder it became to deny it. The more blaze dominated me the more my core felt on fire, it was a new feeling.

At some point, exhaustion started to weigh on me. My eyelids grew heavy, and the warmth of Blaze's body, combined with the steady beat of his heart, was making it impossible to stay awake.

"Blaze..." I mumbled sleepily, trying to sit up, but his arms only tightened around me, pulling me even closer.

"Shh," he murmured. "Rest, little witch. I've got you."

There was no resisting him. His voice, deep and commanding, sent shivers down my spine. I let myself fall back against him, resting my head on his chest as his hand ran through my hair in slow, gentle strokes. My body relaxed completely, and I felt myself sinking deeper into his warmth.

And as I drifted off, one last thought echoed in my mind.

Blaze wasn't just Titus's wolf. He wasn't just another part of him. Blaze held a special place in my heart—a place that was becoming more important than I ever thought possible.

Before long, I fell asleep, completely enveloped in his embrace.
