The air inside Tony's farmhouse was suffocating with tension, thick with the weight of what they'd just uncovered. Izzy sat frozen in her seat, her heart pounding. Their fathers had not only lied-they'd built an empire on deception, leaving her and Damian trapped in a web they never asked to be a part of.
Damian's hands were clenched on the edge of the chair, his knuckles white. Izzy could feel the barely contained rage radiating off him, the dangerous, simmering anger that threatened to erupt at any moment.
"Damian," she whispered, reaching out to touch his arm. "We need to think this through."
But he pulled away, his eyes blazing as they locked with hers. "Think this through? They've destroyed everything! This isn't just about us anymore-it's about taking back what was stolen."
Izzy's chest tightened. She had never seen him like this-so raw, so furious. She stood, her legs trembling beneath her. "I know you're angry, but we can't make rash decisions. Your father, my father-they're playing a game, and we're the ones paying for it."
Tony watched them silently from his chair, eyes narrowed, as if waiting to see how far Damian would go. He knew better than to intervene now.
Damian's laugh was cold, sharp as a knife. "A game? They've been playing with our lives for years, Izzy! They've manipulated everything-every choice we thought we made. We were never free. But we can change that."
Izzy crossed the room, standing in front of Damian, her voice soft but firm. "And how do you plan to do that? By fighting them? What will that solve, Damian? It'll just lead to more bloodshed."
His eyes darkened, a dangerous glint sparking to life. "Maybe that's what it'll take. Maybe they need to fear us. Because I'm done being their puppet."
Izzy swallowed hard, the heat between them almost palpable now-an intoxicating mix of anger, fear, and something more primal. Something that had always lingered just beneath the surface, waiting for a moment like this to explode.
"Damian, please," she said, her voice barely a whisper now. "We need to stay together in this. You can't just... lose yourself."
But Damian's gaze softened as he looked at her, the fire in his eyes flickering but not extinguishing. "I'm not losing myself, Izzy. I'm finding a way to fight back. For us."
Suddenly, he closed the distance between them, his hands gripping her waist, pulling her flush against him. Izzy gasped at the sudden heat of his body, the intensity of his hold, her pulse quickening as her skin ignited under his touch. She had seen him furious before, but this was different-this was pure, untamed passion.
His lips crashed against hers, hard and demanding, like he was claiming her, staking his claim against the world that was trying to tear them apart. The kiss was rough, a reflection of all the anger and frustration he felt, and Izzy felt herself melting into him, her hands gripping his shirt as she gave in to the storm swirling between them.
This was wrong-they were standing on the edge of a dangerous precipice, but in that moment, nothing mattered except the heat coursing through their bodies, the overwhelming need for each other. Izzy's mind blurred, every rational thought dissolving as Damian's lips trailed down her neck, his breath hot against her skin.
"Damian," she gasped, but there was no stopping him now. His hands slid under her shirt, his touch sending shivers down her spine, and she let out a soft moan as his lips returned to hers, more urgent now, more desperate.
He pressed her back against the wall, his body firm against hers, every inch of him claiming, demanding. Izzy's heart pounded as her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, deeper. The intensity between them was too much, too consuming-like they were burning alive, but neither of them cared about the flames.
But just as quickly as the fire had ignited, reality came crashing back down on them.
A loud knock on the door shattered the moment, and they broke apart, breathless, staring at each other with wild eyes. Damian's chest heaved, his hands still on her waist, but the moment was gone-replaced by the cold dread that seeped into the room.
Tony shot up from his chair, his face grim. "That's not good," he muttered, moving swiftly toward the door.
Izzy's heart raced, and she reached for Damian, her voice trembling. "Who could that be?"
Damian's jaw tightened. "No one good. Stay close."
Tony opened the door cautiously, but the man standing outside wasn't a threat. He was, however, the bearer of bad news. The man was tall, dressed in a dark suit, his face grim as he looked past Tony and directly at Damian.
"You need to leave," the man said, his voice low. "Now. Your father's men are looking for you. They know about the girl."
Damian's eyes widened, his hand instinctively tightening around Izzy's. "How long do we have?"
"Not long. They've sent Luca again, but this time he's not coming to talk. They're going to bring you in, whether you like it or not."
Tony cursed under his breath. "Dammit, Damian, you should've stayed away. Now they're dragging her into it, too."
Izzy's stomach twisted, panic rising in her throat. She wasn't just at risk because of the feud-now Damian's family was actively hunting them. And if they were caught... she didn't want to think about what would happen.
"We have to go," Damian said, his voice steely with determination. He grabbed her hand, pulling her toward the door.
But Izzy hesitated, her mind spinning. "Where? Where can we go that they won't find us?"
Damian's gaze hardened. "We'll figure that out on the way. But staying here will get us both killed."
Tony stood in the doorway, his expression torn. "Damian, if you leave now, there's no coming back. Your father-he won't forgive this. You'll be exiled, hunted."
Damian squared his shoulders, his jaw set in defiance. "Then let them hunt me. I'm not staying here to play by their rules anymore."
Izzy's heart ached as she looked at Damian, knowing what he was sacrificing for her. But there was no time for second-guessing now. They were running out of options-and time.
With one last glance at Tony, Damian pulled Izzy toward the car, the night air biting at their skin as they rushed into the dark. The tension between them still burned, but now it was tempered by fear, by the knowledge that their love was leading them into even more dangerous territory.
As the engine roared to life, Izzy gripped Damian's hand, her pulse racing. She didn't know what would happen next, but she knew one thing for certain-there was no turning back now.
