The silence of the cabin was suffocating, broken only by the occasional creak of the old wooden floorboards as Damian moved around the small space. He had checked the perimeter twice, making sure there were no signs of Luca's men. But every minute they spent in this abandoned cabin felt like a gamble.
Izzy sat by the window, her gaze fixed on the dark forest outside, her mind racing. She knew Damian was trying to stay strong for both of them, but she could see the weight pressing down on him-the fear that they were running out of time. Her father's men would be on their trail soon, if Luca didn't find them first.
"We can't stay here," she whispered, her voice barely breaking the tension in the room.
Damian turned to her, his face hard, but she could see the exhaustion in his eyes. "I know. But we can't keep running blindly either. Luca's men are everywhere. If we make a move, they'll find us."
Izzy's chest tightened. Every path seemed to lead to the same inevitable end-confrontation. But they weren't ready. Not yet. "What are we going to do?"
Damian paced the room, his mind working through the options-what little they had left. They needed help, but the city was crawling with enemies, and even Tony's network of contacts wouldn't be enough to get them out this time.
Then, an idea flickered in his mind-one so reckless, it almost made him laugh.
"There's one option," he said, his voice low.
Izzy looked up, her brows furrowed in confusion. "What?"
Damian crossed the room and knelt in front of her, taking her hands in his. His eyes were serious, determined. "We don't run. We make them come to us."
Izzy's heart skipped. "Damian, no-"
"We lure them in," Damian continued, his voice gaining strength. "We control the ground. If we keep running, they'll catch us eventually. But if we're ready for them, if we make it look like we've given up..."
Izzy shook her head, fear gripping her. "You're talking about a trap."
Damian's eyes were intense as they locked with hers. "I'm talking about ending this."
For a long moment, Izzy didn't speak. Her mind spun with the possibilities-what Damian was suggesting was dangerous, reckless. But he was right. They couldn't keep running forever. Luca and their families would hunt them down eventually, and when that happened, they wouldn't survive another chase.
"Izzy," Damian said softly, his voice breaking through her thoughts. "We can do this. Together."
Her heart clenched as she looked at him, the man she had risked everything for. They had come too far, sacrificed too much to let it all end now. Slowly, she nodded. "Okay. Let's do it."
Luca's Point of View
Luca stood in the center of his men, his eyes scanning the map laid out in front of them. Damian and Isabella were still on the run, but it was only a matter of time before they made a mistake.
"They're heading toward the river," one of his men reported, his voice tense. "We have men watching the bridge, but there's no sign of them yet."
Luca's jaw clenched as he studied the map. Damian was smarter than that. He knew the river crossings were being watched. So where were they going?
"They're holed up somewhere," Luca muttered, his mind racing. "They're waiting us out."
He looked up at his men, his eyes narrowing with dark determination. "Sweep the entire forest. I want them found. If you see them, don't hesitate. Shoot to kill."
The men nodded, dispersing into the trees with weapons drawn, leaving Luca alone by the fire. He stared into the flames, the crackling embers casting eerie shadows on his face. Damian thought he could outsmart him, thought he could escape. But Luca knew his brother better than anyone.
And he wasn't about to let him win.
Vincent Valenti's Point of View
Vincent sat in his office, the television blaring in the background as the news anchors discussed the latest fallout from the leaked documents. The city was in chaos-his empire, crumbling. But none of that mattered. Not now. Not until he had Isabella back.
He stared at the family portrait on his desk, his jaw tight. His daughter had betrayed him, but she was still his blood. If he could bring her back, make her understand the gravity of what she had done, maybe-just maybe-he could salvage what was left.
The phone rang, and Vincent answered it without hesitation. "What is it?"
"We've traced them to a cabin near the river," the voice on the other end said. "Luca's men are closing in."
Vincent's heart raced. This was it. The moment he had been waiting for.
"Tell them not to engage until I arrive," Vincent ordered. "Isabella is mine."
He hung up the phone, his mind filled with a grim resolve. He would bring his daughter home. Even if it meant destroying everything in his path.
