The narrow alleyways twisted and turned like a maze as Damian and Izzy ran, their breaths coming in ragged gasps. The cold night air stung their lungs, and the sound of Luca's men grew louder behind them, relentless in their pursuit. Tony's sacrifice weighed heavily on both of them, but there was no time to grieve. Survival was the only thought pulsing through their minds.

Damian's grip on Izzy's hand was tight, almost painful, but she didn't let go. She couldn't. Not when everything was closing in on them.

"This way!" Damian hissed, pulling her toward an alley that sloped downward, disappearing into the shadows.

Izzy stumbled as they raced down the path, her legs burning with exhaustion. Her heart pounded in her chest, her mind spinning with fear. The thought of Luca catching them-of what he would do if he did-made her stomach turn. But Damian kept moving, his focus unwavering. She had to trust him.

Suddenly, the alley opened into a narrow street lined with abandoned buildings, their windows boarded up and graffiti covering the walls. Damian skidded to a stop, glancing around quickly.

"Where are we?" Izzy asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her chest heaving.

Damian's eyes darted around, taking in their surroundings. "We're close to the river. If we can get across, we'll lose them."

Izzy's heart raced. "How are we supposed to cross the river?"

"There's an old footbridge about a mile from here," Damian said, his voice urgent. "It's risky, but it's our best shot."

Before Izzy could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed down the alley they had just come from. Luca's men were closing in fast. Damian grabbed her hand again, and they sprinted toward the river, their feet pounding against the cracked pavement.

The city lights flickered in the distance, casting an eerie glow over the dark water as they reached the footbridge. It was old, rusted, and barely wide enough for two people to walk side by side. But it was their only option.

"Go," Damian urged, pushing her toward the bridge.

Izzy hesitated for a second, her eyes wide as she stared at the unstable-looking structure. But she had no choice. Taking a deep breath, she stepped onto the bridge, her heart pounding in her ears as the metal creaked beneath her weight.

Damian was right behind her, his presence giving her the strength to keep moving. But as they reached the halfway point, the sound of shouting echoed from the riverbank. Luca and his men had spotted them.

"There they are!" one of Luca's men shouted, his voice filled with vicious triumph.

Izzy's breath caught in her throat, panic surging through her. They were out in the open, vulnerable, with nowhere to hide. The men were already running toward the bridge.

"Keep going!" Damian urged, his voice tight with fear.

Izzy forced her legs to move, but the bridge swayed under her weight, the rusted metal groaning ominously. The water below rushed past in a dark, swirling current, and the thought of falling into it made her stomach lurch.

They were almost at the end of the bridge when a gunshot rang out.

Izzy gasped as the bullet ricocheted off the metal railing beside her, sending sparks flying. She stumbled, her heart leaping into her throat, but Damian was there, grabbing her arm and pulling her forward.

"Run!" Damian shouted, his voice filled with urgency.

They bolted off the bridge, their feet hitting solid ground just as another gunshot echoed through the night. Damian grabbed Izzy's hand again, pulling her into a dense thicket of trees that lined the riverbank.
