The city loomed ahead, a sprawling mass of lights and steel, buzzing with life and danger. Damian's thoughts raced as the car inched closer to the city limits, every mile pulling them deeper into the web of power and lies they had been running from. Izzy sat quietly beside him, her body leaning against the window, lost in thought.
He knew what was waiting for them back there: his father, Luca, and the weight of their families' feud pressing down on them from every angle. There was no escaping it anymore.
"We're going to need a plan," Damian muttered, his voice barely loud enough to reach her.
Izzy turned to him, her brow furrowing. "A plan for what?"
"To take them down. Your father. My father. Everyone who's pulling the strings."
Izzy's heart skipped a beat. She had known this moment was coming, but hearing it said out loud made it all feel too real. "And how exactly do we do that?"
Damian's jaw tightened, his thoughts whirling. He didn't have an answer yet, but he knew one thing for sure: they couldn't keep running. The only way to get out of this was to confront their families head-on.
"We start with the truth," Damian said, his voice hardening. "We expose them for what they've done."
Izzy's breath caught. She had been raised to believe in her family's power, to follow the rules, but the more secrets she uncovered, the more she realized just how deep the rot went. Her father had built an empire on lies and betrayal, and now Damian was asking her to tear it all down.
"Do you think we can?" she asked quietly, fear creeping into her voice.
Damian's gaze softened as he looked at her. "We don't have a choice."
The older man driving the car cleared his throat, glancing at them through the rearview mirror. "I can drop you both off in the city, but that's as far as I can go. You sure you're okay?"
Damian forced a smile. "We'll be fine. Thank you."
As the car slowed to a stop on the edge of the city, Izzy felt her stomach churn with dread. They had made it back, but the real fight was only just beginning.
They stepped out of the car, the cool night air wrapping around them like a warning. Damian glanced around, scanning the streets for any sign of Luca's men. He knew it was only a matter of time before they found them again.
"We need to lie low," Damian said, his voice tense. "At least until we figure out our next move."
Izzy nodded, wrapping her arms around herself as they started walking down the dimly lit street. The city was alive with energy, but she couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Every shadow, every passing car made her heart race.
"We should go to Tony's," Damian said suddenly, his eyes narrowing as he formulated a plan. "He knows things-about my father, about your family. He can help us."
Izzy wasn't sure how much more help they could ask for from Tony, but they didn't have many options left. She followed Damian down a narrow alley, her thoughts racing with every step.
Tony's place was on the outskirts of the city, tucked away in an old, rundown building that blended into the shadows. Damian knocked on the door, his hand firm but hesitant. He knew they were dragging Tony into something dangerous, but they needed answers, and fast.
The door creaked open, and Tony's sharp eyes flicked over them. "You kids look like hell."
Damian didn't smile. "We need to talk."
Tony stepped aside, letting them in. His place was a stark contrast to the luxury Damian was used to. It was cluttered, with papers and files strewn across every surface, but it had the air of someone who knew how to survive.
"What's going on?" Tony asked, eyeing them warily. "I assume this is more than a casual visit."
Damian didn't waste time. "My father knows about us. Luca's been hunting us down, and it's only a matter of time before he finds us again."
Tony's expression darkened. "I told you to stay out of this, Damian. Now you've gone and stirred up the hornet's nest."
"We didn't have a choice," Izzy said, her voice sharper than she intended. "We're in this whether we like it or not."
Tony sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "So what's your plan?"
Damian looked at Izzy, their shared determination unspoken. "We want to take them down. Your brother, her father-everyone involved in this mess."
Tony stared at them, incredulous. "You're talking about a war. You really think you can take on both families and win?"
Damian's eyes burned with intensity. "We have to try."
For a long moment, Tony didn't speak. He paced the room, his mind working through the implications of what they were asking. Finally, he stopped, turning to face them both.
"There's something you need to know," Tony said, his voice grave. "Your father and her father-they've been working together on something bigger than either of you realize. This isn't just about some old family feud. There's a lot more at stake here."
Izzy's heart pounded in her chest. "What do you mean?"
Tony hesitated, glancing between them. "They're planning something-a deal that's going to change everything. If you want to take them down, you need to stop this deal from happening."
Damian's fists clenched at his sides. "What kind of deal?"
Tony exhaled slowly, the weight of his knowledge pressing down on him. "It's a power grab. They've been buying up everything-land, businesses, political influence. They're positioning themselves to take control of the entire city."
Izzy's blood ran cold. She had known her father was powerful, but this was something else entirely. This was a plan to seize control of everything, to reshape the city in their image.
"How do we stop it?" Damian asked, his voice like steel.
Tony shook his head. "It's not going to be easy. They've got too many people in their pocket, too much money, too much power."
"But there's got to be a way," Izzy said, her voice filled with desperation. "There has to be something we can do."
Tony's eyes flicked to Damian, and for a moment, he hesitated. "There is one way. But it's risky. You'd have to expose them. Bring everything out into the open-the deals, the corruption, the lies. But if you go down that path, there's no turning back."
Damian's jaw tightened. "We've already crossed that line."
Tony sighed, resigned. "Alright. I'll help you. But you'd better be ready for what's coming. Because once this starts, there's no stopping it."
Izzy exchanged a glance with Damian, fear and determination swirling inside her. They were stepping into dangerous territory, but there was no other choice. If they didn't stop their families, no one would.
And this time, they weren't going to run.
