Be Assertive Already!

"Lunch time Quackington!" Tari was preparing a bowl of veggies for her pet duck as he waddled into the kitchen and suspiciously eyed the dish. He took a sniff and then threw the slop in Tari's face. "Alright. I hear you." She giggled and instead gave him some bread crumbs, but he just discarded that as well.

"What? But you love bread!" Quackington gave her a stare that said "Are you trying to poison me!?" Tari clearly got the message and asked "Then...what will you eat?" The duck scurried off into the kitchen and came back with a picture of duck-shaped cookies that were made from ingredients that were safe for him to eat.

"I...I don't know if I can make those." Quackington started getting really aggressive and quacked angrily, running around just to get his way. "Oh please stop! I don't want you to starve!" She grabbed a bag of duck bites and held a piece out "Are you sure I can't tempt you with-" Quackington shoved the picture into her face and marched over to his bed all snooty like.

Tari sighed and said "I'll make your cookies."

~At the store~

Tari went over to the local Wallmart to find the ingredients for the cookies. She had written down a list of everything she needed to get. She had found almost everything on her list, but a few things remained. "Let's see...eggs." She went over to the freezer section to grab a carton of eggs when some lady rudely pushed her aside and snatched the eggs she was going to grab. She should say something. Tari quietly said with not much authority "Um...ma'am. You just cut in front of me. I was here first and-"

Then the lady had the audacity to roll her eyes and say "What is this to you? A line!? Learn how stores work you moron." Tari couldn't bring herself to argue, but then the old man came up and grabbed another carton of eggs. "Um...pardon me sir?" She lightly tapped his shoulder as he looked around and asked "Who's there? I ain't afraid of no ghost!"

"No. Sir I'm trying to say-"

She tried touching him again as he screamed and fell over. He then sat up like nothing had happened and asked "Can I help you missy?" Tari blinked for a moment and said "Oh yes. I was trying to get my eggs and you cut in front of me."

"Hah young people these days. I'm already in front." Tari mumbled with a hint of annoyance "I noticed..." She tried to grab the eggs again when Belle shoved her to the floor and rudely retorted "Move!" She spun the carton of eggs on her finger and was about to leave when Tari stopped her. "Hey! Belle!" She groaned and said "Ugh...not you again."

"But you cut-"

"Do you seriously need these eggs so badly? You really need to cut out those childish ducky games!" She laughed and walked away while Tari hid her face in her hair. "O-Okay...." It just so happened that Melony and Mario just happened to walk by and saw the whole ordeal. "Don't let her treat you like that Tari!" She rubbed her shoulder and covered up her shyness by saying "It's no big deal guys."

"It's bigger than big! Double big! Tari has a problem!" Tari couldn't think of anything bothering her in that moment so she shrugged and asked "What's the problem?" Mario and Melony exchanged looks as it was fairly obvious what the situation is. Mario positioned her in front of the eggs and kicked her to the ground, jumping over the blue haired girl in the process. "Oh go ahead Mario! You first." Mario pointed his finger directly in her face and exclaimed "There's Tari's problem!"

Melony helped her up and said "You can't be a doormat Tari."

"Doormat?" Tari didn't understand metaphors all that great so Melony tried to make it simple. "A pushover. You need to learn to stand up for yourself! Can you promise us that?" She batted her eyes all innocent like as Tari clasped her hands. "I...I'll try I guess." She went up to the fridge and noticed there was thankfully one carton of eggs left. That was until Whimpu came up and grabbed it before noticing Tari looking at him with puppy eyes. He scooted away and dashed towards the checkout as Tari hung her head. "That's okay. I don't mind." Melony came into the scene and whispered "Watch me."
