As you walked back toward the mansion, the cool breeze tugging at your clothes, you couldn't help but glance back one last time.
Logan was already revving up his bike, giving you a final nod before heading off down the road. The sound of the engine faded into the distance, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
You sighed, running a hand through your hair, a small smile playing on your lips despite yourself. That was Logan—always keeping things simple, even when they weren't. He'd come back, you knew that much. He always did.
And when he did, you'd be right here, ready for whatever came next.
For now, though, you'd let him have his space. You turned back toward the mansion, ready to dive into whatever the day had in store—though you couldn't help but think, "He better actually bring me back something this time."
As you entered the mansion, you were greeted by the familiar sight of the team bustling around. Jean was in the kitchen, her focus on a pile of paperwork that seemed to have taken over the counter.
Storm was chatting with a few younger mutants about training, her laughter carrying down the hall. The whole place had a sort of uneasy normalcy to it, as if everyone was trying to get back to their routines but was still on edge.
You made your way to the common room, seeking a brief moment of solitude. The room was empty except for a few scattered magazines and an old chess set. You sank into one of the armchairs, letting out a deep breath. The events of the past few days had taken their toll, and the quiet of the room was a welcome relief.
