We make it to the mall and we go into Males Warehouse to find Lucas and I suits for the dance. The last time I wore a suit was at my parents funeral. I knew I was gay at a very young age don't judge. "What's you and Sierras color?" Maira asks as she looks through the ties. When I said we were looking I meant her. She would kill us if we even thought about being remotely out of sync.
"I don't know and I don't care. We're not matching." I say and she turns to me with furrowed brows. "What?"
"Like the hell you're not." I roll my eyes. "You can't go to the dance together and not match that's so tacky."
"But-
"Ah ah no buts. I understand fully we don't like her ok cool. But this is your last homecoming dance and since you have a date you have to match." She says and I groan.
"Lucas help me." I beg and his pops out of his head.
"Oh uh." He looks at Maira who has her arms folded giving him the eye. "Just match with a tie or pocket square." He says and I huff.
"Wimp." He shrugs. "Fine I'll match the pocket square with her."
She smiles. "Good now text her and ask her."
I sigh knowing I blocked her number and every social media page that night I found her in bed with Sarah at her house party. I pull out my phone and go to my block contact list and her number is the only one there. I call it. "Hello?" She answers.
"Yeah I'd be confused too."
"Uh Talia?" I hum in response. "Um," I hear rustling in the background. "What's up?"
"Uh what color are you wearing for the dance?" I ask cringing after every word.
"Red, why? I thought we weren't matching."
"Yeah that was the plan but Maira is so set on making everything go right that she wants me to atleast have something that matches with you."
"Oh so it was Mairas idea." I sigh.
"Yeah is that a problem?"
"No Talia it's not it's just once again your decisions are based on what your friends want and not what I want."
I groan rubbing down my face. "We are exes Sierra, they're my bestfriends who have not lead me to believe they loved me and then hurt me as if I meant nothing to them the first chance they get! And again I only said yes for you so give me a break, please!"
She sighs. "I know, I know Talia. I'm sorry."
"Whatever Sierra. Look I'll have a hint of red in my suit so."
"Thank you Talia and tell thank you to Maira for me." I hear the smile in her voice.
"Yeah no problem. See ya." I hang up and sigh. "She said thank you."
Maira hums. "I know she doesn't like me and honestly I understand." I tilt my head confused. "Yes she's a bitch for cheating on you and there's no excuse but truly if I was dating Lucas and everytime I wanted to be with him, he chose to be with some girl that didn't take relationships serious and flirted with everyone she met over me despite them being friends, I'd feel some type of way too."
"But she was your friend too Maira."
She nods. "Yes but jealousy doesn't choose what it gets jealous of. Insecurities go a long way. I'm grateful for you being there for me when my parents were going through their divorce," I look at her in her eyes. "but don't hold it too much against her. Hold what she did wrong but understand she was hurt too."
