Slow Burn - A Percabeth Fanfiction AU

2) Partners

Annabeth's POV

My first day hadn't been the best, first, my roommate had a boy over, let's just say I didn't get much sleep. Then, Luke showed up when we were talking to some loner kid, ever since we broke up, he's become such a perv, not like he wasnt before, but it's been getting so much worse. Then, Mrs Costa made a seating plan, that included me, Piper, and Calipso in the back row next to the loner boy, 2 jocks, some new girl and a kid that laughs way too much at his own jokes.
The loner boy, Percy, I think his name was, slowly walked towards the empty desk beside me. He pulled out the chair and huffed as he falls onto it. I wrinkle my nose as he glances at me. Rolling his eyes as we make eye contact.
"After that... we will get a move on," Mrs Costa sighs. "Alright, this semesters project includes the class splitting up into partners and work together. Each partnership will research their chosen historical figure. Does everyone understand?" The class groans, and she moves on. I crossed my fingers that I would get partnered with Piper or Calipso.
No. Such. Luck. "Your partners have been written on the board." She points towards the board, my eyes go wide as I read through the names...

Clarrise - Will
Hazel - Frank
Leo - Calypso
Piper - Jason
Annabeth - Percy

My heart skipped a beat, this should be illigal, partnering me with Percy! I cringe at the thought of him. At least Piper had Jason (he doesn't seem that bad), and Calipso had Leo, (actually, that seams equally as bad as Percy.) The class went silent for 5 seconds before the realisation hit, "Hey! C'mon! This isn't fair!" Kids stood up and started yelling at Mrs Costa, she was not having it. For a 50-year-old woman, she scared the living shits out of Annabeth.
"SIT YOUR ASSES DOWN! NOW!" As if lightning had hit, the class went silent, sitting back down in their chairs. They had accepted their fate.

Percy's POV

Not long after the silence had begun, Leo had already broken the awkwardness.
"So, are we going to get started or what?" At that, the class began buzzing as the partners got to know each other. Annabeth avoided my eyes, I guess she was pretty, she wore way too much makeup, and her skirt was about 5 inches to short, but she had these stormy grey eyes that seemed to calculate your every move. We were the only partners that were not talking. Surprisingly, everyone else seemed to be having a resonably good time. Especially a Piper and Jason, Piper was all over Jason, laughing at his jokes and putting her hand on his bicep, where as, Jason seemed a little confused.
"Okayyy. I guess we should get started..." The awkwardness in my voice said it all; no way in hell would I be doing this.
"Uhh." Annabeth scoffs as if I were mouldy blue cookie, "I guess..." She rolls her eyes and pulls out her books. I didn't know she even knew how to read, she just doesn't seem that smart.

DING DONG DING! The bell went, indicating the class was over.
"Okay class, you must work on this in yoir dorms and I expect to see the first paragraph by the end of this week. Dismissed!" Mrs Costa calls out to the class. This was definitely the worst day ever.
"Um, come to my dorm after school. Dorm 20B," I say. She rolls her eyes and storms off.
The rest of the school day was boring, I went from one class to the next and sat in the corner of the school yard by myself for lunch, listening to music on my earphones. I wouldn't say I have no friends, but no one will sit with me at lunch,so some people may say that. After the last period, I ran back to my dorm and cleaned up the mess. Not long after I had arrived, Annabeth showed up at the door.

Annabeths POV

I walked slowly to Percy's dorm, hoping he would text me and cancel,  but there was no luck. Knock, knock, knock. I knock on the door and wait for Percy to answer it. "Just give me a second!" A voice yells from inside. No way in tarterus am I waiting, I want to get this done as quick as possible. I barge into his dorm, a shocked expression plastered across my face. Standing there, in the middle of the room was Percy, shirtless and frozen, as if a deer in headlights. Surprisingly, he was muscular, and like an idiot I was staring. "What the fuck are you doing?!" I snapped out of my trance and immediately ran out of the dorm. My face went a dark shade of red. What was I thinking? He was getting changed! After a few seconds, Percy opens the door, a sympathetic face staring at me, his green eyes seemed to glow as I stared into them.
"OMG! I am so, so, so sorry! I didn't thi-"
"Well, I mean, I did say 'wait' but..." he trails off. "Okayyy. After that... experience, let's get started." He walks me into his dorm, surprisingly, he has no roommate, lucky.
"Take a seat where ever you want. " his dorm had a small bed, a desk, a cupboard, and the floor was spotted with clothes. I took a seat on the floor beside the bed. "Okayyy! Where should we start!" The awkwardness subsided as we got started, 

"Um, I think we should do someone like Isaac Newton," I say, trying to get the conversation going. 

"Umm... Who is that, shouldnt we do someone, that everyone knows." Percy looks at me, I would of laughed, but his completely serious expression told me not too. 

"Right." I say, holding in a giggle. "So, how come you dont have to have a rooommate, its completely not fair!" I say, a smile forming on my face. "Well, I have a charm, Princible Dodds just could help but fall for me." Percy's face forms into a mischeveous lopsided grin. 

"Aha! Right!" A completely not attractive snort come out of my mouth. My hands whips uptowards my mouth to cover it. Percy, honestly, wasnt that bad, I started to doubt why we always make fun of him. "So, you come over tomoroow so we can keep going on that paragraph!" I call out as I leave, I didnt really feel like leaving, Percy was fun to hang out with, unlike all the other girls I sit with at lunch. Piper wasnt that bad, she was kinda new. And Cally could be really nice, if you were her friend.
