After the shock finally finished I had to start to find a way around it. "Couldn't we just get Greg to try to not let him Pause?" Henry asked. "We've already tried that." Pack Leader (whose name is Konnor). "I've got it," I said, "Do you have any more xylophine, just enough to let me use enough of my brain to fight it off." Konnor nodded. He then said, "The thing is, with each of the test subjects we had to give it them frequently to get it permanently in their blood stream." "Won't I just need the amount for my birthday?" "I guess." So it was set. Hopefully I'd be able to not pause. Konnor walked off and we were left on our own. Scarlet ran to me and gave me a hug. "It will work won't it?" I couldn't look her in the eye. I tried to nod. She wasn't believing it but walked off. Suddenly Konnor appeared again holding a syringe. I hate them. I pulled up my sleeve. He shook his head. Oh this'll hurt.

One painful injection later I was ready. I didn't want to sleep so stayed awake. The sun began to rise. My tent door opened. "Are you ready?" I nodded. I walked onto a platform as everyone wanted to see if it worked. I sat in a meditating position. I closed my eyes. I could sense everyone staring at me. Scarlet and Théo holding hands. Henry had been my friend for a while and I knew that he'd also be worried. In my head I just kept thinking 'stay un-paused stay un-paused. Minutes passed. I opened my eyes. It took me a while and then I realised. I wasn't paused. I was okay.
