As I walked back to the camp I sat on a nearby bench and held my head in my hands. What had I done, what had I made happen? What did she mean? As I walked down to the camp I saw a new group who had made it back. "Hi." I said. When no one turned I realised that they were surrounding Martin on a bed. "What's going on?" Otto looked up at me. "We're trying to work out if he's the same guy that he was before he paused." "Right, how's it looking?" I asked. This girl I'd not met before turned, "It's looking fine. He remembers everything from his un-paused state and does seem, well, human." I look at her, "Who are you?" "I'm Giselle." "Right," I say, "Otto, why do you think he's back." "Well, I presume that it's what you said, you know, that you stopping the pause caused him to come back." I thought. It did make sense but for some reason it felt wrong. The way that Daphne had talked to me, how calm Martin looked pinned to the bed. "Sure, what the heck! Let him go." I had to say that. Clearly I thought that he should have been locked up and have guard,s until I found out what was wrong, but I had to make sure people didn't panic. Otto leant over and set him free. I looked to the sun which was beginning to set, like a ball of flame pulled down below the hills.
As I began to sleep my mind left my body and I began to see a girl (who I'd just met in camp but hadn't found out what their name was. Suddenly a shadow loomed over her. She turned. "Hello," she said, "Your that kid from earlier who was ill or something. Michael or Matty." "Martin." "Nice to meet you. Doesn't the sky look beautiful tonight. Without so much light pollution you can see the stars much better." "Yes, pretty stars." "So, why are you here?" He looked her in the eye. "Hungry." The girl pointed at a box. "We have food in there." "That not food I want." The girl looked uneasily. "Then...what food do you want?" She took a few steps back. "I," he said, stepping to her, "want," the girl took a lot back, "YOU!". Martin charged and the girl ran. Martin was far taller than her so had longer legs, each bound longer than the last, quicker than the last. Soon he caught up with her and grabbed her. I was then woken by a scream.
I ran out of my tent and sprinted to where I had had my dream. Sure enough lying on the floor was the girl. "HELP, OVER HERE!" Soon Arnold and the others appeared, including Martin. Giselle sank to her knees. "Shannon..." she said, trailing off at the end. "You." I snarled, walking up to Martin. I punched him across the face and then grabbed his collars. "You did this!" Arnold and Otto stepped in-between us. "Come on," Arnold said, "you don't have proof." I pointed my finger in his face. "Yes I do, just before I dreamt this happening. He did it." Otto put his head in his hands. "As if that would stand up in court." I tried to think of something but couldn't and stormed off to have the rest of my sleep. This time, without a murder.
