Late morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room as Kat blinked her eyes open. She could hear the steady rhythm of Miles breathing beside her, his body still relaxed in sleep.
For a moment, she lay there, staring at the ceiling, the weight of the past few days pressing down on her chest like a stone.
Then, she felt the gentle brush of fingers along her cheek, pulling her out of her thoughts. She turned her head to find Miles awake, his blue eyes warm and filled with concern as he studied her.
"How are you feeling, pretty girl?" he asked softly, his voice low and soothing.
Kat managed a small smile, her hand coming up to cover his. "I'm okay," she said, though they both knew it wasn't entirely true. Still, the warmth in his gaze was comforting, a quiet reassurance that she wasn't alone. "Do you want breakfast?"
Miles shook his head, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "Yes, but you don't have to cook for me. Let me take you somewhere. Why don't you pick a Portkey, and we'll go anywhere your heart desires?"
Kat's heart softened at the offer, a swell of emotion rising in her chest. "You're too sweet to me, Miles," she murmured, her voice thick with affection. "I don't deserve you."
Miles leaned in, his fingers brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear as he smiled gently. "You're my best friend. Of course you deserve me."
Kat's smile widened, the warmth between them easing the tension that had been twisting inside her since she'd left Severus and Lucius behind. They started to get up, the bed shifting as they moved. Kat swung her legs over the edge, grabbing for her oversized t-shirt as Miles stretched lazily beside her, the morning light catching his bare skin.
He stood, his back to her, and as he pushed his boxers down to adjust them, Kat couldn't help but giggle at the sight.
Miles turned around, raising an eyebrow with a playful smirk. "Come on, you know I can't help it."
Kat laughed, shaking her head. "Yeah, yeah. Just get dressed before I change my mind about breakfast."
The playful banter between them filled the room with light, a much-needed reprieve from the heaviness that had lingered since she'd returned home. Miles had always been her anchor, the one person who could bring her back to herself when everything else felt like it was slipping away.
(This is how I imagine Miles, Luke Powell)
Kat smiled softly, her heart lighter as she watched Miles pull on his shirt. He always had this way of making her feel grounded, of pulling her out of the mess in her head and reminding her of the simpler things. With a mischievous glint in her eyes, she stood, crossing the room and tugging at his shirt playfully.
"Come shower with me," she said, her voice low and teasing.
Miles arched an eyebrow, his lips quirking into a grin. "Is this your way of thanking me for being an incredible friend?" he teased, leaning in slightly, his tone light but flirtatious. "Or are you just trying to get me naked again?"
