26. His past pt. 6

YEARS PASSED (sorry for the time skips T_T)

Beomgyu was in a high school now, but do you think he was happy?

Well, you're wrong.

Many things changed in his life. A few months ago, his dad (Park Joon Woo) started drinking alcohol out of nowhere and slowly became addicted.

Due to this, he became tired of taking care of the orphanage and all the kids living there. So, he gave the orphanage to one of his colleagues, who didn't mind at all but was quite shocked by his change of mind.

Because he knows he loves children, but all of a sudden, he's giving the orphanage to him without any reason. He even asked him why, but he ignored him and went away.

As he slowly became more addicted to alcohol, he started coming home late and talked rudely towards Beomgyu and his wife and sometimes also ignored them.

His wife was very angry with him, and she always used to shout at him for getting late every day. But he doesn't care at all. He always used to come home late drunk.

Beomgyu had no idea what was happening with his dad. He didn't expect this from him. Meanwhile, his wife tried to talk to him, but as usual, he ignored her.

Beomgyu's POV

I was going back home from my high school, and I was looking down and wondering what would happen when I reached home.

What if he's home? Will he hit me?

I shook my head and brushed off my thoughts.

I reached home and rang the bell.

My mom opened the door and sighed in relief and said, "Ah, thank god, it's you, I thought it's him..."

"Don't worry, he'll come home late as usual..." I said and came inside.

"Right... Anyways, you take a bath, I'll make lunch for you."

"Okay."

TIME SKIP

We were having our lunch peacefully, and none of us spoke.

Suddenly, mom's phone rang. She looked at me and got up and took her phone in hand.

"Hello?"

"Yes...?"

"WHAT!??!?!?!" She shouted.

I got up and asked her what happened, but then I saw tears in her eyes...

She kept her phone down and looked at me.

"What happened, mom?"

"Y-your father..."

"What happened to him?"

"H-he got into an a-accident..."

I widened my eyes and had no idea what to say.

"T-they called us to the hospital, we've got to rush now!!"

She ran to her bedroom while I was still standing there, not moving an inch.

No, please no.

Even if he ignores us, please don't... I'm here only because of him.

After a few seconds, mom came, and she called me, "Beomgyu!! Let's go!!"

I nodded and followed her outside the house.

We went towards our car as she sat on the driver's seat, and I sat on the passenger's seat.

After that, we finally reached the hospital.

I ran towards the reception and asked the lady about my father.

"He's in the operation room right now. It's 405. But, you can't enter the room." said the lady.

"Okay, thank you." I said, and we both went towards room 405.

I saw the light, which was red, claiming that the operation is still going on.

I sighed and waited for the operation to get over.

I saw my mom crying while sitting on one of the seats. 

I went towards her and sat beside her, consoling her...

"M-mom, he'll be fine, okay? Don't lose hope, please." I said, trying my best not to cry in front of her.

She just nodded.

After a few hours, the operation room's door opened, and I woke up suddenly, asking the doctor.

"What happened, doctor? Is he fine?"

"I'm really sorry, his internal organs are damaged very badly, and also, the fact that he got addicted to drinking affected his lungs a lot. We tried our best but we couldn't save him. I'm sorry." He said and left.

I was frozen. I didn't know what to think and what to do.

I looked behind towards my mom, and she was looking down with her widened eyes.

I went towards her, and she looked at me and started crying very badly.

I hugged her and started crying, too.

After a few minutes of hugging each other, she broke the hug and wiped her tears and said,

"Now, don't feel alone, okay? You still have me, and I promise I'll take care of you as I've always been doing. You're my only world, Beomgyu. You're an orphan or whatever. I don't care. You are my child, my son, and I'm your mother." 

I cried even harder and hugged her tightly.

"T-thank you mom, I love you."

"I love you too, son."

PRESENT TIME
Beomgyu's POV

"S-so yeah, that's my whole story." I said and wiped all my tears. 

I looked at Seohyun, and she already had tears in her eyes.

"Heyy, why are you crying?" I asked while half laughing.

"I didn't expect you had to suffer all these years. I'm really sorry." she said.

"Shh, there's no need to cry and be sorry, hyun." I said and hugged her.

(hyun is her nickname, btw)

She broke the hug and said, "I promise I'll always be there for you. Okay?"

I smiled and nodded and hugged her again.

"BEOMGYU SEOHYUN, YOU BOTH HAVE BEEN UPSTAIRS SINCE SO MANY HOURS!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU BOTH DOING?!?!" she yelled.

"Please don't tell her that I told you this. Okay?" I asked her, completely ignoring my mom.

She nodded, "Don't worry, I won't."

I smiled, and we hugged each other once again.

"I love you, Seohyun. I told you this because you're special to me and I trust you a lot." I said.

"I love you too, Gyu. You always have my back."
