Vance tiredly forced his eyes open when he heard Bruce's ringtone. He sat up, realising Bruce was laying right next to him. When did that happen? He must've gotten super high yesterday as he couldn't remember anything after the fire drill. He looked down at Bruce, playing with some of his hair. Vance wondered what would have happened if the fire drill hadn't happened. Would they have kissed? Maybe he was reading too much into the whole thing. Maybe he had made it all up, and it didn't even happen. He reached over to Bruce's phone, answering it and bringing it up to his ear.
"Hello?" He spoke with fatigue. His eyes still extremely heavy.
"Who's this?" A girls voice replied. "You don't sound like Bruce." Vance looked back down at the sleeping boy.
"Yeah, he's asleep right now. This is his roommate, Vance." He answered.
"Oh, the hot one?" The girl said, making Vance laugh slightly. "Bruce's words. Not mine." She explained quickly. "I'm Amy. His little sister. He probably hasn't mentioned me cause he thinks I'm annoying."
"I can take a message for you if you want?" Vance offered, but then Bruce started to wake up. He blinked slowly, trying to wake up completely.
"Who is it?" He asked, his voice all groggy.
"It's your sister." Bruce put his hand out for his phone.
"What's up?" Bruce spoke into his phone. "Right. Where's mum and dad?" He asked. Vance couldn't hear what Amy was saying. "It's in the top draw below the sink." He ordered. "Yeah. Miss you too. Ok. I have to get ready. Bye." He placed down his phone on the bedside table as he stood up. "Sorry about that." He apologised.
"It's ok." Vance shrugged. His alarm was about to go off anyway, so it wasn't like he was missing much sleep. "So, are you and your sister close?" He asked curiously. Bruce nodded his head.
"Yeah. I mean, practically, my whole family has been checking up on me nonstop since I've got here." Bruce explained whilst pulling out his uniform.
"Must be nice." Vance stated. Bruce tilted his head to one side.
"You're not close with your family?" Vance shook his head.
"Nope. My mum's always too busy for me, and my dad's a liar and in prison." Bruce frowned. He felt bad for him.
"I'm sorry." Vance shrugged his shoulders dismissively.
"Family sucks. But what can you do." He sighed, staring at his bruised knuckles. He looked at the time. He needed to get ready, so he stood up. "Oh, also, what did you sister mean when she called me the 'hot one'?" He asked with a smug smile, moving closer to Bruce. The black haired boy began to blush.
"I'm going to kill that little shit." He whispered under his breath. Vance chucked, grabbing Bruce's hips and pulling him closer.
"Don't be shy, baby. It's okay to have a little crush on me." Vance teased. Bruce scoffed, pushing Vance's chest.
"Jerk." He mumbled.

"You did what?!" Jamie yelled in shock.
"I nearly kissed him." Bruce repeated himself. He was super confused about everything and needed to tell the others. "It's so weird because he just hasn't said anything about it." Bruce picked at lips nervously.
"Well, everyone knows he doesn't date. That's like his only rule. So maybe he didn't want to hurt your feelings." Jamie explained. Bruce groaned as he put his head in his hands. He was screwed.
"Hey, Bruce." A voice spoke. He lifted his head, his eyes widening as he saw Vance in front of him.
"Hi." He greeted awkwardly.
"Can I sit?" Vance asked. Bruce immediately sat up and moved, making room for Vance to sit down. Everyone stared at Vance silently. "What?" He said harshly.
"Vance!" Bruce hit his side. The blonde scowled but soon relaxed a bit.
"Sorry." He said quietly. "What were you guys on about before I arrived?" Vance asked curiously.
"Uh, nothing interesting." Jamie answered quickly. Vance nodded slightly.
"Oh, Bruce. Roman dropped out last night." Vance explained.
"Did you hurt him that bad?" Bruce frowned. Even if he was a dick he didn't want it to go that far.
"Who cares?" Robin huffed. "The guy was an asshole. Thank god Vance beat him up."
"And he hurt you first." Vance added, looking into Bruce's eyes. Bruce looked away anxiously.
"I guess." Bruce remained silent as he listened to Vance and Robin ramble on about the fights they've been in. The good ones. The bad ones. The ones in between. It was honestly starting to bore Bruce.

Bruce and Vance sat on Vance's bed looking at the blonde's sketchbook. He was surprisingly really good at drawing. Not that Bruce was paying much attention. He was staring at Vance, deep in thought.
"Vance? Can I ask you a question?" Vance turned his head towards Bruce.
"Yeah. What's up?" He asked.
"Why don't you date?" Vance was a little taken aback but composed himself.
"Well, I've dated before but they all used me to get closer to my mum." He explained. "I've never experienced true love and if I'm being honest I don't think I ever will." Bruce placed his hand ontop of Vance's giving it a little squeeze.
"Not everyone's like that. There's someone out there for everyone." Vance hummed. "You can trust me."
"Bruce. Before the fire alarm. What were you going to do?" Bruce's face started to burn at the sudden mention of it.
"Uh, I don't know what you mean." Bruce said, trying to play it off. Vance rolled his eyes before cupping Bruce's face and smashing their lips together. Bruce froze in suprise before kissing him back, his hand grabbing Vance's soft curls. Vance pulled away and stared at Bruce, wide eyed. Even he was shocked at what he just did.
"I like you Bruce." He admitted. "I think I'm willing to try with you. I trust you." Bruce smiled softly, pulling Vance into another kiss.
