Kayla arrived back and quickly scaled the fire escape, scanning the room before open the window as quietly as possible and then closing it back up again. She ran over to her brother and shook him gently. "Nick, Nick," he stirred awake. She pulled out the ibuprofen, tore off two small pieces, then I put them in my hand and turned back to Nick. "Nicky, hey come on, sit up, let's get some medicine in your system." He weakly nodded and sat up. Kayla had a hand on his back the entire time. He took the pills, put them in his mouth and swallowed. He smiled gratefully at his sister. "Any trouble with you-know-who?" He asked lying down again with his sister's help. She brushed some sandy brown hair from his face lovingly. "No, but some kids your age made me lose perfectly good medical supplies! Zare, Jai and Ezra, they called themselves." She said. Images of the three boys flashed through her mind. She still couldn't place it, why was Ezra so familiar. "Funny thing, this Ezra kid, looked almost identical to you, except he had black hair and had a dark skin tone." He smiled at her and nodded to the space next to him. "Why do we have to suffer while Styhh is living comfortably?" Kayla asked as Nick covered her with a blanket corner. "I don't know, but we've got to stay strong." He said giving a grin. "You have red teeth buddy." She pointed out causing him to laugh. "What am I going to do with you?" He asked teasingly. Kayla looked up at him with tired eyes. Those eyes were like green stars that could see far away places, something better than reality. "We have hope, hope that things will get better. And they will." He qouted their parent's last words. He fell asleep with a protective arm around his sister.
