Kayla kept tossing and turning wide awake. "I give up." She muttered to herself getting up. She snuck into the living room in socked feet and sat in the window seat. The fresh air helped calm her nerves. She looked at her reflection in the window pane. Her raven hair was sticking up in all directions, reaching mid-back. The white shirt was a bit big covering her shorts. The dark circles under her green eyes signaling that she hadn't slept for awhile. She didn't see a girl, she saw a survivor. She swung on instinct when a hand was put on her shoulder. "Ow! Geez-a-wiz Kayla. You are strong." Ezra said holding his nose. It wasn't bleeding but it still hurt. "Sorry, sorry. Instinct." She apologized. She turned back to the window. Ezra was on a mission. "Are you sure you're okay?" He questioned. Kayla started to nod but started shaking her head. She kept everything bottled up for so long that she snapped. "My brother is in the hospital, unconscious, I'm somewhere unfamiliar, and Nick is the only family I have left. My parents were taken away by the Imperial gang when I was 5, 6 years old maybe. They did it right in front of us. My brothers and I were in different places, I was in a coset with Nick, Cam was under the couch, how he got under there is beyond me. They grabbed Nick and I but didn't know Ezra was there. Nick told him to stay hidden. I was grabbed by my hair and the freaking grand inquisitor just had to show up. That was the last time I saw Cam. He, mom and dad are gone. It's just me and Nick now." She explained. Ezra picked up the girl, slipped in the window seat, and then put her back down. She put her head on his shoulder, and fell asleep. He smiled, pulling a blanket over her. He ruffled her hair in a friendly manner and went back to bed.
