"Cyra, Scott's on the phone!" Gordon called to his younger sister, she looked up with a smile. He put his eldest brother on speaker.  "Alright Scott, you're on speaker." Gordon informed him. "Hey squirt!" Scott told Cyra through the phone. Hearing his voice was comforting to her. Scott had been in the air force overseas for a while now. Without all her siblings home, she felt like a piece of her was missing. "Hi Scott, we miss you!" She chirped. He chuckled at the snippet. "I miss you guys too. Oh, guess what, I'm coming home soon!" He said. This caused the girl to squeal. "When?!" she questioned. "Umm sometime tomorrow I think." He stated, faking unsureness. "You been keeping the others on their feet like promised?"  "Sure have!" she chirped. "Hey listen, I got to go, I'll talk to you soon okay?" he told her, making it seem like he wasn't almost home. "Okay, I'll see you next time." She added as Gordon hung up. He hung up.
Cyra wasn't around in the living room when he walked in. He carried a duffle bag over his shoulder, still in his uniform. He kicked off his boots off. Went to his room to put his bag down, then literarily jogged, to Cyra's room. He knocked on the door frame gaining the attention of the burnt auburn- haired girl.
When she looked up and saw who it was her hectocromic eyes grew wide. Scott knelt down to one knee holding his arms out wide. "Scott!" she yelped. Cyra ran to him throwing her arms around him.  He wrapped her in a big hug. It felt like ages since he could pull his youngest sibling into a hug. He missed his family with every fiber of his being: Gordon's pranks and antics; Hearing grandma Tracy in the kitchen trying to cook; Alan squabbling with someone over something; and Cyra's big hugs. Just seeing her in the photos he got made him miss her more. He stood spinning her around, making a twinkle of happiness appear in her eyes.  When he let go she questioned, "You said you were coming home tomorrow!" He laughed, a genuine laugh for the first time in a while. "I told you that to surprise you! When I told everyone about my idea you were at school." He answered. "I'm happy you're home, AND that you're safe." She happily told him.
Later he walked out along the trails to Cyra's favorite spot. He sat down, pulled her close, and let a huge grin spread across his face, one that only Cyra could cause.  On him and his brothers.
