I'm tired, I'm in pain and I miss her more and more everyday...
Devon
It had been almost a week since Julian assigned me to kidnapping that man. The man Julian had sent infiltrated the work so perfectly that it concerned me. How many times had they done this?
We held Petro Huvann in "The cave" which was a place in the underground building that we used to hold our "customers". That room was filled with the blood of our victims and at times it was disgusting and nauseating.
Petro was begging for his life and it pained. One night, while everyone was out, I decided to visit him. When I entered the room and my eyes fell on him, I felt my stomach turn. He was drenched in his own blood, his face was swollen from all the punches he got, his left eye was barely open. I walked over to him and I saw him tremble and quiver at the sound of my footsteps.
I got closer to him and knelt down in front of him. He looked alarmed, bewildered and scared as I placed my hand of his knee to balance myself. I looked up at his bruised face and he looked down at me.
"P-please...sir...h-have mercy on...m-me", he trembled. It pained me to see how scared he was.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Petro. I just want to talk to you", I spoke softly. "I want to know the real reason why you asked Julian for money and how you got to know Julian, please?"
He took a moment to respond, seeming hesitant. He cleared his throat. His voice was raspy as he spoke. I could feel the pain from his voice.
"A few...months a-ago my youngest daughter was diagnosed with cancer, caused by a tumour developing within her brain. The doctors told us the only way t-to save her was to take her for surgery and the surgery would cost us nearly $20,000. We were already in debt and the only way to save her life was to seek out help from a loan shark and then one of my friends introduced me to Julian who offered to help me, but on one condition. I have to pay him within 3 months after the surgery with $8000 interest or he kills my family. I agreed to pay him within 3 months but I just lost my job a month ago and now, now I can't pay Julian...I'm afraid he'll go after my p-princess...", he began sobbing his voice trembling. I was enraged by Julian's actions but more so I was in pain and heartbroken from this innocent man's story, I too feared for his daughter's life.
"I'm so sorry Petro, I'm sorry you are going through this...but I'm willing to help you, if only you'll help me too",I stood up.
"I'll do anything, please!", he pleaded.
"Help me put Julian down, help me bring him to his knees by telling me everything and anything you know about Julian, everything. I will release you right now and take you to a hospital but after doing so, promise me you and your family will leave the city until I deal with Julian", I suggested. I was at my limit, it was now or never.
"Yes! Of course! I-I'll tell you everything I know and I will give you every information I have on him, just please, please free me from this hell hole", he sobbed, his eyes were filled with hope and beaming as I began I'm untiring him.
I freed his hands and legs. I helped him stand up and we walked out there as he leaned onto me for support. As we walked through the long hallway of the underground building with our feet tapping against the tiles echoing throughout. I was scared that Julian would pop out anytime. I felt cold sweat run down my back, sending chills throughout my body. Everything was eerily silent. My heart was beating in my throat, my eyes darting from side to side.
After turning around a corner that led outside the building and into the up stairs cover up office, I saw one of Julian's men standing near the exit. He eyed us suspiciously before walking towards us.
