I love you forever, baby...
Evanly
I stood there dumbfounded, my breath hitched. I couldn't move, my feet were glued to the floor.
Danzel turned around and saw me, "Oh, you're finally awake, you were out cold.", he chuckled softly and he placed the knife he was holding in his hand down. I wasn't quite listening to Danzel, because all I could focus on was Devon. He slowly turned to look at me, his eyes were fierce and tense but calming at the same time, just as I remembered. Danzel quickly read the room and excused himself with an excuse of needing to check up on Luciano. Devon took a step toward me, his frame firm yet welcoming. We stared at each other for what seemed like forever.
"Devon...", I whispered, my voice came out shaky. My heart was racing, a million questions running through my mind. What was he doing here? When did he arrive in Los Angeles? Why is he here?
"Hey Evanly, this must be shocking to you, I know...", he spoke up. His voice shot right through me like a bullet. It was deeper, raspy and the heaven sent accent of his made it impossible to focus on his words.
"I-when did you get here...?", I stumbled over my words, my heart quickening at the question I had just asked.
"Not too long ago and you happen to be sleeping when I arrived, so I took it upon myself to carry you to bed. You looked so peaceful.", he explained. I could quite grasp the fact that Devon was really back, he was standing right in front of me after all these years. I had so much to say to him. I wanted to scream, to jump up in excitement, to cry. Devon was really hear.
He let out a soft sigh before clearing his throat and taking a step closer to me. "Actually, Evanly, can we talk? Just us two somewhere privately."
I froze for what felt like hours. I nodded my head hesitantly. He walked to me taking my hand gently then he led me upstairs to the balcony overlooking the grand backyard and swimming pool. We stood by the glass pane, the night was beautiful, the moon glowing brightly and the stars shining. Devon looked so handsome under the moon light, his blue eyes seemed to be glowing, his hair gingerly swaying with the soft wind.
"I know it's been a while... but how have you been, Evanly?", he spoke up. His question felt heavy, there was so much I had to say but I couldn't.
"So far I've been alright, nothing too special although my life has been mundane but yeah... I've been alright. I hope you've been good too?", I finished off. He lowered his eyes and held my hands. His height towered over me.
"No, I haven't. My life has been an endless torture. I will be truthful to you Evanly, it has been hard without you. For the past three years I struggled to come to terms with what I did, I couldn't forgive myself and so I went to therapy for three years.", he confessed, I could feel the heaviness in his voice. His hands were shaking ever so slightly, you wouldn't notice if you weren't really paying attention.
"Why would put yourself through therapy for three years, Devon?", I asked.
"I did it all for you", he admitted finally breaking the tension between us. He let out a deep sigh. "I did it all for you, for us. I want to be the man that you deserve, I want to love you the you deserve to be loved and even more than that. I know I have no right to be here with you but I'm willing to do whatever it takes."
