I feel lost, I'm in pain, all that I have done was for nothing...

Evanly

Two days had passed since I came to San Diego and things were still hostile between my parents and I. I was on a video call with Benjamin, ranting to him about the events that unravelled when I arrived.

"I just hate the fact that she would play with my feelings like that, I'm deeply saddened by her actions. Maybe I shouldn't have come here in the first place", I sighed heavily. I was at the brink of packing my things and leaving, if she is going to act this way, I'm leaving.

"Why don't you try talking to her about the matter and maybe you can get some closure or inside on the matter", Benjamin suggested.

I paused for a moment, maybe Benjamin is right.

"I guess...you're right, I'll try to talk to her",I sighed.

"That's my girl. Just promise me that after this whole fiasco is over, come back", his voice was heavy with anticipation. It was as if he was pleading, but I will come back to you Benjamin.

"I will, I'll come back and you better have a ton of ice cream waiting for me",I teased.

"Of course, anything for you",bye replied with a soft chuckle.

Benjamin and I spoke for some time till he had to get ready for work. After he hung up, I decided to do as he suggested, try to talk to my mom.

The house was eriely quiet. I went downstairs and found no one in the house. I suddenly heard soft humming coming from outside. I went to the outside pouch where there was a bench that overlooked the garden that was filled with beautiful florescent flowers and little lanterns.

Mom was sitting on the bench, reading a book and humming away without a care in the world.

"Mom?", I whispered. Mom suddenly looked up, her tired face beaming at the sight of me.

"Evanly?", she looked at me bewildered. I walked over to her, the wooden floor creaking beaneth my feet. I set beside her and went silent for a moment, then spoke up.

"Mom, we need to talk"

"I know honey", she sighed, turning to me.

"Mom I know it wasn't very respectful and composed of me to react in that manner and I just want to apologise for what I said", i looked away.

She gently grabbed my hands and placed them in hers, gently squeezing them.

"There's no need to explain yourself or apologize my dear. I was at fault too"

"This isn't just about what I did, this is also about what you did, you hugged me for the first time after 26 years and you expect me to reciprocate that? All my life you've neglected me, you've never been there for me, you've ignored me and never even tried to acknowledged me in your life, you've never seen me as your daughter nor did you even try to", I felt all that built up feelings and thoughts I had suppressed all those years ago come up.

"I know what I did was wrong but-"

I quickly cut her off, feeling agitated. My thoughts were running through my mind uncontrollably, my emotions spiraling out of control.
