The next morning,
Sunlight hit Moon's face forcing her to wake up with a heavy head. She looked around the surrounding of hers. Her head was hurting like HELL. She touched her forehead. She wasn't really how she end up in an unknown place. As she remembered, she was quite drunk.....She suddenly realised that it was her parent's house and the room, she used to live in.
Holding her head, she got downstairs to drink lemon juice or something as her head was hurting. Holding her head, she went to the dining table and grabbed water for her when she felt another presence beside her. She stopped her movement and looked beside her finding her father sitting in a chair by the dining table eating his food. Seeing her, Byeong-Ho got up immediately and gave her space and said, "I can eat later. You can sit here."
Moon stared at him for a few seconds before saying, "No, I am no up for your pity. Besides it's your house. You can sit wherever and however you want." saying she was about to go but all of a sudden and went back to the dining table and sat to eat breakfast with her father.
Byeong-ho also took his seat a bit away from her. They were eating beside each other but no one talked. Her father passed her chicken wings indicating that her mother made that for her. If it was another day, she might have created a scene over this but she didn't do anything right then. She quietly kept eating. The chicken was very spicy which made her cough because of the spiciness. Her father immediately got up to get water and made her drink that. While drinking, she looked at her father. For the first time, she observed her father. Even at his 50s, he was a handsome man. No wonder her mother loved him that much. But maybe it was not about his looks only. Maybe he cared.
" If it's spicy, no need to eat. Eat Kimchi only." Her father said as he got back to his seat.
Meanwhile, a figure was watching this scene with a smile on her face. She also hoped for her husband and her daughter having a good relation like every other father and daughter.
Back to Moon, "Well, yesterday, were you present at court or outside the court or outside the police station?" Moon asked her father.
Byeong-ho stopped eating for a second being confused and started eating again. While chewing the food, he asked, "Why are you asking that?"
Moon didn't reply. She thought about the time when she was going to jail in police custody from the court, she felt a familiar presence. She looked around her but she didn't find anyone other than raged fans and curious media. Same goes for the time when Madame Shin came to pick her up. She felt the presence. Maybe it was just her misconception or maybe...maybe her that little hope that she had once about her father caring about her.
Her father repeated his words seeing her in her thoughts. "Aniyo...just like that." she replied. Byeong-Ho nodded. "So, were you there?" she again asked clearing her throat.
"Ani...why would I go? Besides I have lots of work at office." Byeong-Ho casually replied. It seemed like she felt a bit disappointed. "Right! Why would you be there?" she chuckled. "Silly me. I forgot you are the busiest man. You never have time for anyone. Only work matters to you." saying that, she put her chopstick back and got up, "I am full." saying she left from there.
Byeong-Ho stared at her disappearing figure and smiled. He was actually there. In these years, he was not the best person actually. Not the best husband or not the best dad. He actually wanted to be there for his daughter this time. When that day, he saw her messy and devastated look, for the first time, he looked closely her daughter and the first time, he felt empathy, hurt and guilt towards her. But he couldn't really jump on her with affection. Honestly, he didn't actually know too how to show affection.
