The soft hum of the hospital buzzed in the background as Y/N sat with IU during a rare break in their shifts. The warm glow of afternoon sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a golden hue over the break room. Y/N sipped her tea, feeling the exhaustion of the week settling into her bones. IU sat across from her, stirring her coffee absentmindedly, a worried look clouding her usually calm face.
Y/N had noticed it the moment IU walked in—something was off.
"You okay?" Y/N asked, setting her cup down and leaning forward. IU hesitated, biting her lip as if debating whether or not to say something. "What's going on?"
IU glanced around, making sure no one else was in earshot before letting out a small sigh. "Danielle showed up at the hospital last night."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat, her eyebrows shooting up in shock. "Danielle? As in *Danielle Danielle*?"
IU nodded, her expression tight. "Yeah. She ran into Hoseok, and... well, he's been on edge ever since."
Y/N stared at IU, the weight of her words sinking in. Danielle was back. The same Danielle who had once been Hoseok's world, and then his heartbreak. Y/N's mind immediately flashed back to the years before IU was in the picture, back when it had just been her, Hoseok, and their tight-knit group of friends. She remembered how shattered Hoseok had been after his breakup with Danielle. It wasn't just a simple breakup—it had gutted him, left him a shell of the person he used to be for months. Y/N had been there, watching him piece himself back together.
"Does Hoseok know why she's back?" Y/N asked, her voice hushed. She couldn't imagine how Hoseok must be feeling now, with Danielle suddenly showing up out of nowhere.
IU shook her head, running a hand through her hair in frustration. "He won't talk about it. I tried asking him last night, but he brushed it off like it didn't matter. But I can tell it's bothering him. He's barely said a word to me since."
Y/N sat back in her chair, her mind racing. She hadn't seen Danielle in years, not since everything had fallen apart between her and Hoseok. And now she was back, just as Hoseok was finally happy again, moving on with IU. A deep worry gnawed at her.
"Hoseok and I have been friends for a long time," Y/N said quietly. "I know how hard that breakup was for him. If she's back... I'm just worried it might stir up everything he worked so hard to move past."
IU nodded, her eyes filled with concern. "That's what I'm afraid of too. He's been so distant lately. I just hope... I don't know, I just hope he doesn't let her get to him."
Y/N reached out, placing a reassuring hand on IU's arm. "Hoseok loves you. He's not going to let her come between you two. But maybe give him a little space to figure things out. If anyone knows how to navigate this, it's him."
IU smiled weakly, but Y/N could see the uncertainty lingering behind her eyes. As much as she wanted to reassure IU, Y/N couldn't shake her own growing concern. Danielle had a way of getting under people's skin, and Y/N feared what her sudden reappearance could mean for Hoseok—and for everyone around him.

The smell of garlic and herbs filled Y/N's small apartment, the cozy space suddenly feeling warmer with Namjoon standing at the stove, concentrating on a pan of sizzling vegetables. She leaned against the kitchen counter, watching him with a soft smile as he moved effortlessly around her kitchen, looking so at home it almost made her heart ache.
"You didn't have to do all this, you know," Y/N said, amusement coloring her voice.
Namjoon glanced over his shoulder, flashing her a dimpled grin. "I wanted to. I know things have been crazy lately, and I thought you could use a break."
Y/N's chest tightened at the thoughtfulness in his gesture. After everything that had happened, especially with the complications in their relationship and the chaos with Jimin, it felt nice to have a moment of peace. A moment where it was just the two of them.
As they sat down at the small dining table, Namjoon poured them each a glass of wine, his eyes catching hers. For a moment, the world outside disappeared, and it was just them—no distractions, no worries. Just the easy comfort of being together.
After dinner, Namjoon stood up, moving to her side of the table. He took her hand in his, gently pulling her up. Y/N looked at him, puzzled but smiling. "What are you doing?"
Namjoon didn't answer right away. Instead, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close as they stood in the middle of the living room. The silence between them was comfortable, the only sound the soft rhythm of their breathing.
"I've been thinking a lot," Namjoon finally said, his voice low, his gaze intense. "About us. About everything that's happened. And I don't want to keep running in circles, Y/N."
Y/N swallowed, her heart pounding in her chest. "What are you saying?"
Namjoon looked down at her, his thumb brushing lightly against her cheek. "I'm saying that I want you. I want us. For real, this time." He paused, his voice soft but steady. "Will you be my girlfriend again?"
Y/N's breath caught in her throat, her eyes searching his. She could feel the sincerity in his words, the vulnerability he rarely let anyone see. She knew how much this moment meant to him, and to her. After everything they had been through, the ups and downs, the doubt and the fear, it all melted away in that instant.
"Yes," she whispered, barely able to contain the emotions swirling inside her. "I want that too."
Namjoon's smile was radiant, his hands tightening around her waist as he pulled her in for a kiss, slow and tender. The kiss deepened, their connection palpable, as if everything else had fallen away, leaving only the two of them standing there, lost in each other. Y/N felt her skin tingle under his touch, her heart swelling with a mix of love and desire.
Just as the moment started to heat up, a sudden, sharp knock on the door shattered the atmosphere. Y/N and Namjoon pulled apart, both startled by the interruption.
They exchanged confused glances before Y/N moved to answer the door, Namjoon following close behind her. She hesitated for a second, her hand hovering over the handle, before finally pulling the door open.
Standing on the other side was Jin, his expression a mixture of shock and disbelief.
Y/N's breath hitched, her heart pounding in her chest as she stared at him. "Jin...?"
He didn't say anything at first, his eyes flicking between Y/N and Namjoon, as if struggling to process the scene in front of him.
"I didn't expect... to see you," Jin finally said while looking at Namjoon, his voice quiet, yet filled with something Y/N couldn't quite place—hurt, maybe, or confusion.
The air in the room felt thick, the weight of Jin's sudden reappearance hanging over them like a storm cloud, leaving Y/N and Namjoon standing frozen in place, unsure of what was about to unfold next.
