"Yes! But I'm also going to be a big sister today!" Mika declared proudly.
"That's amazing! You'll have to tell us all about it later," Armin replied, giving her a high-five.
"Mummy, Daddy?" Mika asked
"Yes sweety" Eren asked
"Bring the baby home this time! I want to be a big sister" Mika said
After some last-minute hugs and reassurance, Mikasa and Eren headed to the hospital. The atmosphere felt electric as they parked and walked inside. Eren kept Mikasa close, ready to support her every step of the way.
As they checked in, Mikasa felt the reality of the day setting in. "This is it," she whispered, a mix of excitement and anxiety swirling inside her.
Eren wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "We're going to meet our baby soon. Just focus on that."
After getting settled in their room, the nurses came in to prepare Mikasa for the induction process. Eren stayed by her side, holding her hand and reassuring her as the medical team explained everything that would happen.
"Mikasa, are you ready?" the doctor asked, smiling gently.
"Ready as I'll ever be," she replied, her voice steady despite the nervous flutter in her stomach.
"Alright, let's get started. We'll monitor your progress closely, and I'll be here the whole time," the doctor assured her.
With Eren beside her, Mikasa took a deep breath, ready to embrace the journey ahead. Today was the day they would welcome their newest family member into the world, and she couldn't wait to hold her baby for the first time.
"Okay I'm going to put your drip in with the oxytocin and your contractions will start after that as soon as you want to epidural just let me know!" The doctor said
Mikasa nodded, her heart racing with both excitement and anxiety. "Okay, I'll keep that in mind."
The doctor carefully inserted the IV, and Mikasa felt a slight pinch but quickly reminded herself of the end goal. Eren squeezed her hand gently. "You're doing great, Mikasa. Just focus on breathing."
As the oxytocin began to flow, Mikasa felt the first wave of contractions building. It was a different sensation than before, and she concentrated on her breathing to help manage the discomfort. "Eren, stay with me," she murmured.
"I'm right here," he assured her, his voice steady and soothing. "Just remember what we talked about—breathe in, breathe out. You're strong, and you can do this."
Minutes felt like hours as the contractions intensified. Mikasa closed her eyes, focusing on the rhythm of her breaths. Eren's presence was grounding, his hand holding hers firmly, reminding her that they were in this together.
"Do you want to try the epidural now, or do you think you can handle it a little longer?" the doctor asked, observing Mikasa's reactions.
She hesitated, feeling the waves of pain. "Maybe... just a little longer," she replied, wanting to see if she could manage without it for now.
Eren smiled at her with pride. "You're incredible, Mikasa. Just a little longer, and we'll be meeting our baby."
Time continued to blur as the contractions became more frequent and intense. Mikasa focused on Eren's voice, listening as he encouraged her through each wave of pain. But as the minutes passed, she began to doubt her decision.
