Lest the world outside see my pain,
I hide it behind a smile...
Lest he notice the void in my soul,
I always close my eyes when he kisses me...
Lest he overhear me whimpering,
I offer all my tears to my pillow...
Lest others see how my soul has been ravaged,
I look for a temporary reprieve in my meds...
Lest I lose the few friends I still have,
I hug them even when it hurts all over,
Lest they notice I am tormented,
I smile and bless each day...
Being thankful for everything I've lived and enjoyed,
For having been loved and cared,
But inside I'm shattered and exhausted,
And all I want to is to rest still in the womb of Mother Earth,
Enveloped in its soothing silence,
And fade into a hollow cocoon,
Just a distant, blurred memory...
May my name be etched in a peaceful grave,
Quiet, at peace and finally free of pain.
