No thoughts in particular ran though Fuyaiyah's head. Her plan to explain herself directly to those she cared for started off well, but it got off track and ended awfully. Now, her mind drove her to only seek somewhere quiet.
But, it was, at least, a four hour walk back to the palace and an extra hour's walk to get to anywhere familiar. Fuyaiyah felt the effects of being in the cold all day and of her heart breaking - she was in no physical condition to walk so far. So she stopped in the middle of the town to gain composure.
Nearby her, the Civil Maiden's were doing civil duties in groups. She didn't notice them at first.
"What's wrong with you today?" Yelled a Superior. "You struggled in the last group, so I put you in a group that was doing something simple but yet - you're still struggling!"
It wasn't until Fuyaiyah heard the voice that she looked back.
It was Junnie. She was crying and looked distressed.
"I'm sorry!"
"Saying sorry won't keep this Kingdom clean and orderly!"
The two familiar maidens who were with Junnie earlier dropped their work and ran to her side.
"Please don't worry Superior!" said one desperately.
"Yeah - we'll make up the work for her. All that matters is the work getting done, right?"
Fuyaiyah watched nearby as her dear friend, because of her, struggled with her duties and was getting in trouble. But when the Superior, who mistook Junnie's sudden sorrow for disobedience, pulled out her whip, Fuyaiyah's body grew hot and ran to her dear friend.
"It's not her fault, so don't hit her!"
Then the Maidens saw her, but the Superior was already about to whip Junnie. She ran instinctively to pull back her friend.
In exchange for Junnie's face, the back of Fuyaiyah's shoulder got whipped.
The Maidens, the Superior, and everyone in the vicinity looked in the direction of the loud whip and saw the fiancee of Prince Kyuni on the cold ground with a bloody cloak. Everyone was shot with fear.
"You just hit the Bride of the Prince!" Said a random person.
While everyone - including Junnie - was frozen with fear, Fuyaiyah quickly ran back to the Palace.
A Palace horseman soon found her, inquired about her condition, and gave her a swift ride back to Prince Kyuni's chamber.
The Prince wasn't present, as she hoped. She thanked the Palace horseman, forgot to ask him not to mention her condition to the Prince, and proceeded to quickly clean Carleigh's white cloak, and clean her wounds. Then she sat at the vanity and examined herself.
"Princess! You're back I see!"
The friendly maid returned to the chamber to prepare their dinner.
The head of the silhouette behind the room divider bowed a little bit more but didn't give an audible reply.
On the other side of the room divider, Fuyaiyah let a few tears drop. She now understood perfectly why Princess Zyla kept urging her to address her casually. It was a sign of intimacy. Companionship,
Finally, Prince Kyuni returned. He didn't enter quietly, nor greet his maid like normal. He busted in and headed towards Fuyaiyah, who was at the table eating dinner.
"What exactly happened today?" He asked. But before she could even reply, Prince Kyuni pulled down the sleeve to her nightgown, exposing the recent scar - as well as the ones from the past.
The maid ran to Fuyaiyah and pulled her back gasping.
"Prince! Though you're about to get married soon, you mustn't be so quick to undress her!" But when she pulled her back into a hug, she had put pressure on the fresh wound and made Fuyaiyah wince.
"How did you get that scar? Who hurt you?" He asked again, a bit louder this time.
She straightened out her clothes.
"Nobody in particular. It's okay. It'll heal after a few days -"
-"It's not okay! News of you getting whipped by your old Superior in the middle of town is spreading everywhere! You're here as a Princess of this Palace! But yet someone already dares to whip you! Who exactly did it so that I can resolve this matter immediately!"
"Prince. It was not intentional, and, in a way, I deserved this scar. Please don't give out any punishments."
"You have no intention to tell me?"
"Because it was not intentional."
Prince Kyuni, who was now very upset, turned back towards the door.
