The old couple quickly finished their breakfast and returned to the old residence. Of course, the two of them looked very happy too. They wondered if Ryujin and Yeji were going to bring good news soon.
They even wondered if the good news would come around by next spring.
The cold wind blew at the entrance of Maple Residence. Sis Wang looked at the car that moved further away in a daze as she could not help but sigh lightly. When she heard this, Jennie smiled calmly. As she looked at the car that vanished in front, she responded after a long while, "Everyone wants to be happy forever, but happiness is like skating on thin ice. Many things still require us to work hard and guard them."
She left this sentence floating in the cold wind before she turned to walk into Maple Residence.
Sis Wang looked away with a sigh, and went in after her.
After the cold rain stopped, it seemed as if the entire City Z had calmed down too. Ryujin and Yeji flew to France that day itself while Jisoo rushed abroad for work. Jennie stayed in Maple Residence and barely went out. Apart from asking Solar to return to the Son residence twice, she stayed at home.
On Hospital T's end, Jennie called Naeyon. She found out that Jeongyeon's condition was stable for now, but he had not regained consciousness. There would still be lots of examinations in the upcoming week. Jennie knew that they were all people that Lisa had specially invited to check on Jeongyeon.
The entire City Z was becoming colder and colder. After New Year's Day, they would be at the end of the year.
Lisa went out early and returned late. He was very busy with work, but when Jennie went to the hospital for checkups, he would personally accompany her such as he did today. It was a Saturday, and there were many people, so it was a lucky thing they had made an appointment.
After the checkup was done, the husband and wife went to visit Jeongyeon too. He was still in the Intensive Care Unit. Naeyon who guarded the ward outside had become thin very quickly. She was even more fragile than before she got married. However, by the looks of it, her emotions seemed quite stable, and she was not as distracted as before.
On the bench in the corridor, Jennie looked sadly at Naeyon who was gaunt. "Before this, you were still worried that you wouldn't be able to lose weight, but look at you now. You're so thin I can see your ribs. If Jeongyeon wakes up, his heart would ache to see you like this. He'd even complain about what a bad friend I have been."
Naeyon just smiled feebly. "I can still gain weight after this. As long as that bastard Jeongyeon wakes up, I don't mind how thin I get. You, though, you've gone through a lot with me. Lucky thing Master Manoban's back to watch over you. I think you look much better now."
"I've been eating well and sleeping well recently, so I feel much better in spirit. Right, how's Violet doing? When I went back to the Son residence a few days ago, I went around the maternity store and bought Xiao Kim some clothes and toys. They're still at my place. I'll get Solar to send them to you at night."
"Alright, don't worry about these things. Worry about yourself. Violet still has her grandpa, grandma, grandfather, and grandmother to take care of her, so she's alright. I've been coming over to see Jeongyeon, so I haven't had much time to watch Violet. Thankfully, Jeongyeon's mother and my mother are around. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know what to do."
Naeyon sighed a little helplessly. "Right now, I'm just hoping that Jeongyeon will wake up sooner. It's been tough for me to hold on alone. Before this, there would be him to depend on for everything. Seeing him down like this makes me feel like I'm stuck in a terribly difficult situation. Okay, forget it. When she mentioned it, Jennie subconsciously frowned and shot Naeyon a puzzled look before replying calmly, "Kai left City Z for San Francisco. In fact, he brought Krystal's son too. He's thinking of starting over there."
"So, this Krystal did not leave with him and stayed back in City Z? I heard that she's been managing Yueying well. Hasn't the box office sales for a recently released blockbuster been doing well? How could she be willing to give up on everything here and leave with Kai? No wonder she looked quite dispirited. She seemed a little sad and dazed."
The scene from before suddenly flashed in Naeyon's mind. Now, all that remained were sighs. "However, this time, you can actually see that Kai has completely given up on Krystal. Jennie shook her head. "She's been behaving for a while now."
Naeyon nodded. "That's good then. I hope that we can walk out from all these haziness in the past. The Kim family's gone, and so have your grandfather and Sun Yeong. And Chaerin... You've gone through many storms. You learn you can never straighten everything out, so you only wish for some peace!"
After she said this, she sighed deeply. "After Jeongyeon got into the accident, I've given it a lot of thought. The more I feel like there are too many things spiraling out of our control, I don't wish for riches, only peace and harmony for my family."
Jennie nodded and gladly agreed, "Jeongyeon will definitely wake up. Don't worry about it too much. You speak so much to him every day, and he loves you deeply. He won't just leave you behind like that."
