BCM: What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?
kikipee: For years I was on Wattpad as a reader, too afraid to write my own work until a friend of mine encouraged me to write and Wattpad seemed like a place to do just that. I love that I can connect with my readers in the comment section unlike some platforms and connect with people from all over the world.
BCM: How did you discover the Bootcamp Mentors and what have you found most valuable about this Wattpad community program?
kikipee: I saw a post that MiniMoxx (Alex) shared sometime last year and went through the BCM account to get to understand what it offered, but didn't have the guards to actually apply then.
BCM doesn't only offer writers a mentorship to enhance their writing, but it's also a place where friendships are born. There's always someone willing to help on BCM, which is so rare these days, people don't help each other anymore. The feedback and advice from the mentors and other mentees goes a long way in writing a great story.
BCM: What motivated you to write the story you're working on with your mentor?
kikipee: A year ago I wanted to write for the 8 chapter challenge, but didn't have the discipline to actually write a book within the given timeline. I jotted down the idea and wanted to see it through, no matter how long it took. So when I saw the second session mentorship, I knew I had to take a chance to make my story better than it initially was.
BCM: If you had to describe your story in three words, what would they be?
kikipee: Love, Food, Friendship.
BCM: Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.
kikipee: Taking time to get to know my characters; their goals, weaknesses and strengths and paying attention to the direction my protagonists want me to follow. Also, knowing my own strengths and weaknesses as a writer.
BCM: Share two Wattpad story recommendations.
kikipee: There are so many that I can think of, and it's so hard to choose! But since you need just two, I will go with An Inconvenient Arrangement by zeen2805 and Sky and the City by polly79 .
