I didn't respond and looked at the clock. I would have to leave soon which meant tea run. I decided to just order it to the room so I had time to figure out how I was going to give it to her. I had some ribbon she had left in my room from tying her hair up and I could wrap that around the box.

But what? Just leave it outside her room? I mean, I could write a note, leave it with her tea. I had bought a nice case too. So hopefully it would fit in the box when I left it outside her room.

I grabbed the nearest piece of paper and the sharpie I always kept around.

Riles,

I figured you needed something worth the work you were putting in. As the best media girl and my lucky charm ;)
And do not even think about giving it back or getting rid of it. It's a gift. You deserve it.

I sat in the drivers room, throwing a tennis ball at the ceiling. Oscar was sitting on the other side of the room, just completely spaced out. It was boring not to have Riley here and I really wished she would walk in that door.

"Lando Norris!"

I froze, my tennis ball landing on the floor and rolling off as Oscar finally zoned back in with that stupid smirk. I wanted to throw the ball at him but it was out of reach and I was scared to move as the door opened. Riley standing there in a pair of overalls and a cropped tank, her hair was tucked into a bun with a scarf tied around her neck. She looked even more beautiful when she was angry.

"Hi Riles."

"Do not. Why the fuck did you get me a new iPad? You-" She took a breath and I could tell she was telling herself not to slap the shit out of me. "When I said I needed a new one, that was not an invitation to get me one."

"I had the money."

"It doesn't matter! I don't need your pity or your money."

"Woah." I stood, taking a few steps toward her but still far enough away so she couldn't bitch slap me. "I got it for you because I wanted to. I don't pity you and I enjoy spending money on you. I don't want or need a lot of things but if I can help you out, then I will. Because you deserve it."

I watched as she went through her thought process. I had no idea what she could be thinking and if it came down to being something that was an issue, I would take it back. But I didn't want to. Because she did deserve to have nice things. Things that worked. She was putting in so much work for the team and to have something that would make her job a bit easier, there was no hesitation in getting whatever it was.

"You're a dumbass."

"I got it in green." I shrugged, watching as the smile on her face grow even as she fought it.

"I can see that."

"Am I going to get hit?"

"No. I need you to race to keep my job."

I snorted and took those remaining steps toward her, bumping her forehead with mine. I could see as she rolled her eyes but that smile didn't fade.

"You going to be there when I win?"

"I'll be there for whatever result you get."

I smiled and nudged her a bit as I walked past her, it finally time to start getting ready for the race. Oscar followed behind me and Riley behind him. She was on the iPad, probably setting everything up as she took her usual seat at the bench.

"Riles!"

She looked up, confusion on her face. "Lan?"

"Hat."

She looked confused and then it showed on her face when the realization hit. She took the hat off from where it was clipped on her pants, sliding it on. I nodded, giving her one last smile before I followed Oscar out to the cars.

_

I tried to keep my cool on the last lap as I pushed. P3. I was in fucking P3. Charles was in the lead but Oscar was pushing on him. Riley was right. Charles was going to win and I knew it was important to him but P3.

I heard the cheers erupt which meant Charles had won. Oscar was across and then me. I could be happy for Charles and Oscar. They raced well. They raced well.

The cooldown laps went and we pulled into the winners circle. Charles was already on top of his car and I smiled a bit at how happy he looked as I got out of mine. I went to hug Oscar.

"Good one, mate."

"Just go to Riley, you know you want to. Charles is going to be god right now."

I snorted as I pulled off my baklava, walking toward Riley. She had that knowing look in her eye but there was still a smile on her face. I didn't have to say anything as I collapsed into her hug, really wishing there wasn't the wall.

"P3 is still a good run, Lan. And you got the fastest lap. Points."

"I wanted to win."

She rubbed my back and part of me wanted all of this to be over so I could just spend the night with her.

"I'm still proud of you. As long as you still think me to be a good luck charm."

I looked up, lightly bumping her head. I tried not to laugh as her nose crinkled at the feeling of sweat on her face. "You're always my good luck charm, Riles."
