The New Girl (Fairy Tail Fanfic):
Chapter 33: Bad OmensThird Person POV—
Elaine stumbled into the library of the Guild, her legs barely carrying her before she collapsed onto the cold, hard floor. She fell to her hands and knees, but she didn't move. She couldn't. The sharp pain in her palms barely registered compared to the storm inside her. She stayed there, unmoving, face inches from the ground, feeling completely and utterly defeated.
Her body trembled, every muscle twitching in the aftermath of what had just happened with Gray. Her breath came in shallow gasps, but that wasn't what bothered her most. It was the sensations, the maddening, uncontrollable sensations still gripping her. Her legs were trembling, and her frickin' bits were pulsing. She clenched her knees together, trying desperately to get over it, trying to fight the need still buzzing inside her. Her entire body ached, not just from exhaustion but from the relentless desire coursing through her veins. It was as if her body was battling through a windy storm, one that left her flushed, aching, and unable to think straight.
"Focus. Just think. Get your head straight." She tried to think instead of feel, hoping, praying, dying to find relief in rational thought.
But then her mind circled back to the one thing she couldn't escape—Gray. And the coffin. And everything that happened inside.
Elaine felt stupid. So, so stupid that her thoughts started spiraling into even dumber territory. "Do I like him?" The question shot through her mind like lightning, and the answer came just as fast. "No." Not like that. It wasn't romantic; it couldn't be. Her heart hadn't stirred in that way—not for Gray. Maybe, at one point, they could've been friends, or at least something close to it. But now? Now it felt like she was just an odd distraction in Gray's life, someone he briefly found entertainment in.
And that was the part that confused her more than anything else cause she felt the same.
"I can't deal with this..." she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
But no matter how hard she tried to push him from her mind, Gray was there. Every look, every touch—haunting her. She could still feel the weight of his hand on her waist, the way his breath had brushed her neck. She tried to shove it all away, but the intensity of it lingered, stubborn and unshakable.
Elaine forced herself to sit up, though her legs still trembled, and her mind—her frickin' bits—refused to calm.
Elaine forced herself to lift her head, tired of curling into a defeated little ball on the floor. But the moment her eyes landed on Serano's pale figure and striking white hair, her heart skipped a beat. For a split second, she thought she was staring at a ghost.
Elaine jolted up from the floor, her hand flying to cover her mouth as a scream slipped out before she could stop it.
"The hell Serano!" Elaine gasped.
Serano, as usual, was completely unfazed. She stood there with her arms crossed, her signature expression of boredom and indifference plastered on her face.
"Geez your highness, calm down," Serano said with a dramatic eye roll.
"You SCARED me!" Elaine snapped, still panting, her hands clutching her chest as she tried to catch her breath.
Serano glanced down at Elaine's costume with an arched brow. "A bit early for Hallow's Eve, don't you think?"
Elaine crossed her arms, still simmering from the adrenaline and—well—everything else. "It was for the Twilight Trials," she muttered, willing her pulse to settle.
