The New Girl (Fairy Tail fanfic):
Chapter 2: Ice Breakers

As much as I had been eager to see Lucy's home, now that I was here, I didn't know quite how to occupy myself. Everything was new—too new, and I was still trying to make sense of my surroundings. But more than that, my mind kept drifting back to my parents. Were they safe? What had really happened back home? Everyone at Fairy Tail kept assuring me that they were strong, but I couldn't shake the worry gnawing at my insides.

I wanted to go back home, but I knew I had to trust my mother's last instructions. Stay with Fairy Tail. So, in an attempt to distract myself from spiraling thoughts, I let my attention wander, taking in everything around me.

"Which town are we in?" I asked, feeling a bit sheepish. After all, I had no idea where in Fiore I had ended up, and truthfully, I didn't even see how I got here.

Lucy perked up and smiled. "We're in Magnolia! It's a quiet town, mostly. Well, except when our Guild gets a bit rowdy."

I tried to picture it: a town of magnolia trees, peaceful and serene—until Fairy Tail caused chaos, of course. "What's it like here?" I asked, curiosity taking over. I had only seen bits and pieces on my way in.

Lucy tapped her chin thoughtfully, "Aside from our chaotic Guild, it's a calm beachside town. Not a lot goes on, but we do have festivals at the beginning of each season. We just had the Summer Solstice!"

"Festivals?" I echoed, my mind lighting up with the idea of bright colors, laughter, and crowds of people enjoying themselves. "Which one is your favorite?"

"Spring!" Lucy said, her eyes sparkling. "The Blossom-Viewing Festival is my favorite. You'll love it! You should come visit."

I nodded, though a tiny part of me doubted I would stay long enough to see those festivals. I didn't belong here, not really. This was all temporary.

Before I could dwell too much on that thought, Lucy suddenly yelled, her voice cutting through the quiet air like a crack of thunder. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY APARTMENT?!"
