Same Night....
Atlanta, Georgia
Notification light flashing. Buzz, buzz, buzz...Buzz, buzz, buzz...Buzz, buzz, buzz...
Fatima shifts a little, reaching for her phone while also trying not to wake up Iyonna.
It's been an emotional day and to add insult to injury it started to rain which made Fatima even more needy in all aspects of the word.
She squints her eyes, adjusting to the brightness of her phone. "Oh gosh..." she utters softly seeing her fathers FaceTime picture on the screen. "Please God, no more bad news.." pressing the green button sitting the phone up.
"Hey Daddy." She answers groggily half sleep.
"What's up Mamas?" "What's going on?" She asks. "Fatima." "Hmm." "Well if you're sleeping I'ma let you go." "No Daddy. I promise I'm up. I'm just resting my eyes..." "You don't even know who you're talking to..." "Mmhmm." She hummed in response, getting even more comfortable because Iyonna started to move.
"Dada.." Iyonna murmurs in her sleep. "Yup I miss Daddy too Munchkin." Fatima says, rocking her back to sleep.
Zac laughs, "I miss you too Mamas..." he tells them.
He watches Fatima sleeping so peacefully. It's one of his favorite things to do besides making her love face. He smiles, just enjoying the moment, as he orders his food because Richard and Beverly took him out to eat after the whole ordeal. Plus with the respect and rank that Richard has with the commanding officer and sergeant in charge. They knew Zac would be in good hands and brought back.
"What's so funny?" Fatima murmurs, hearing laughter.
"Mamas wake up." Zac told her. "No..." "But you're going to miss your favorite part.." "I'll just rewind it Zac..." she spoke while cuddling up even more..
After a few moments it clicks, "Zac..." "Yes." "ZAC.." "Mmhmm" "OH MY GOD ZAC!!!" She burst from her sleeping startling Iyonna who's now crying her baby eyes out.
"I'm so sorry, Baby." she utters uncontrollably looking for the phone that disappeared in the bed because of her sudden movements.
"ZAC!!!" "Yesss." he taunts, "Don't hang up!!" "I promise I'm not going anywhere Mamas, take your time." he told her.
Fatima manages to find her phone, then starts to calm Iyonna down, "It's ok YanaMama. Look, it's Daddy..." she murmurs through her tears, Iyonna comes out of Fatima's embrace with her little face puffy red and her eyes a glossy glow. "Dada..." she babbles shakingly.
Fatima kisses her forehead because she didn't mean to scare her. "Aweee Munchkin. Don't cry." he tells her, getting choked up. "How you doing?" He asked, letting Iyonna babble on.
He can tell just by her facial features and her teeth that she's grown so much since he's been gone. It both breaks his heart yet, makes it sing to know that she's being well taken care of,
"How is this even possible right now?" Fatima asked, going to Big Ma's room to wake her so that she can talk to Zac.
Although she would love to hog all the phone time, she knows how much Big Ma has been missing him too.
"Babe you wouldn't believe the shit my roommate pulled..." "It's that bad?" Zac shakes his head.
"What's bad?!" Big Ma asked, waking up slowly. "Who I gotta shoot at the base messing with my Peanut?" she asked seriously, as she swung her legs over the bed, while Fatima turned on the light sitting next to her with Iyonna on her lap.
