Chapter 1
Jenni's POV
"MOM!! Why do we have to do this?", I said very frustrated, following her out to the car.
"I don't see why your so mad, you used to love this place as a kid", my mom said still packing the car.
"Yeah, as a kid!!! I didn't know anything as a kid!", still frustrated I followed her back into the house where she continued packing. My unreasonable mother is making us stay at a permanent camping place for the summer. I know,I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but it is; we used to travel everywhere and go camping an it was fun, I met a ton of people and now I'm stuck at one place with the same people all summer.
"Jenni, no matter what you say we are going to stay there for the ENTIRE summer whether you like it or not!!!" Usually my mom doesn't freak out this much so, she must be pretty serious.
"Well I will definitely not like it!!", I said storming away. Yeah I know that sounds childish but my mom just doesn't understand. I know that when she gets there she will understand what I have been trying to tell her and then I can say "I told you so". I guess that sounds pretty childish too, but I don't care it's TRUE.
When we finally got to "Spring hills", I was the last one to get out of the car. Even though I didn't want to be there I'm pretty sure we had the prettiest view of the lake, so that's a perk but that's it.
"Ooo, isn't this just such a beautiful view of the lake", my mom said.
"Yeah, I've got to admit it is very pretty", I said reluctantly.
"See, I told you this wouldn't be so bad", my mom said looking at me with that "I told you so" look on her face. Ugh I was supposed to be the one with that look. It'll probably come sooner than later.
"Ok guys, let's start setting everything up", my dad said. My dad is a very laid back guy and usually let's my mom get away with a lot of stuff. This whole permanent place was one of the things he let her do. Even though I begged him to talk her out of it but he just kept saying 'It'll be fine.' tiredly.
All of a sudden I saw this lady with blonde curled hair come over to us looking very pleased.
"Hello you must be the new neighbors!", she said with a little too excited smile on her face, "My name is Joann we live right here in this camper", she said pointing to the camper beside ours. Great. Hope you hear the sarcasm dripping out of my mouth. I'd only known her for about 15 seconds and she was already annoying me.
"Hi my name is Sarah, it's very nice to meet you.", said my mom "This is my husband, Mark, and my daughter, Jenni.", she said pointing at us. "I have a son too but he must have run off already, you know how boys are.", my mom said. Did I not tell you I have a brother he's 10 and can easily get on my nerves.
"Oh. Believe me I do; I have one of my own and he is a typical boy!!" Joann said smiling. She sure does smile a lot. I bet she's one of those people who smile all the time and are always nice in that nauseating way. I hope not because then I would easily not like her but would be able to give my mom a reason of why we shouldn't be here, and that would be that our nauseatingly happy neighbor is making me gag and I can't stay the whole summer with her. "Say, how old are you?". I didn't realize she was talking to me until my mom said my name to get my attention.
"Oh. Um I'm 15.", I said to her wondering what is coming next.
"Really? Because I have a nephew who's camper is right down the hill who is 16!"
"Oh, is that so?" I said with clear disinterest In my voice. Joann mustn't of heard it but my mom sure did and she pinched me in the arm. Before I could say anything I looked at my mom staring at me with that look like "shape up or else" and I stopped myself.
"Yes!!!" Just then a boy walked up to Joann and said that dinner was ready. "Oh okay dear but I want you to meet our new neighbors!!" Joann said to a boy who looked about 17. He had brown chestnut hair and bright green eyes and when he smiled he had a dimple on his right cheek. I've got to admit he was pretty hot. "This is Sarah her husband Mark and her daughter Jenni." She said pointing to me.
"Hi nice to meet you." He said looking right at me when he said it.
"Oh where are my manners" Joann said faking being ashamed. "This is my son, Nick. He's a junior.
"Well that's great. Although Jenni is only a freshmen." My mom said putting her arm around me like she didn't want a junior to take me away.
"Well I better go or the boys are going to get mad" Joann said walking away looking back at us. "It was nice to finally meet you and I will be talking to you later, neighbors." Joann said laughing.
"Yes, it was nice to meet you too." My mom said. "Okay let's get this place set up."
