Chapter 19

Conrad's POV

I hopped on the jet ski and headed back. The water was like a mirror and the only waves were the ones I were making behind me. I could already tell tonight was going to be great. There was no wind so we won't have to worry about floating way or anything.

I got back to the campground and went to put the jet ski back in to the dock with all the water toys you can rent out from the owners of the place.

I headed back to the office where I have to check in that I'm back so somebody else can use it. I found Nick sitting in there. "Hey! Was it you who was taking so long on the Jet ski?" Nick stood up abruptly as I walked in the door and walked towards the sign in sheet.Oooo

"Yeah. Sorry, I went to talk to the guys." I said with my back to him as I was writing down the time. Mr. Behl's was sitting behind the desk. He was an old quiet man but when he did talk he would make you laugh as hard as you could. He doesn't talk much, so when you get to hear what he says it's like winning the lottery. Very unlikely, I've only heard him say something once and that was when I was eight. Apparently it was pretty funny but I was too young to understand the joke.

"Whatever just give me the keys!" I tossed them behind me and heard him walk out the door as it slammed behind him.

"Hey Mr. Behl's what was it like when you dated Mrs. Behl's?" I asked him a question about every time I went in there hoping I went could get a word out of him. He just shrugged his shoulder. I saw his mouth open like he was going to say something. My eyes widened a little bit but I had to stay calm so that he would continue. But that didn't work out, he closed his mouth again and just shrugged his shoulders. I almost had him. I will get him to talk if I have to kill him... well that didn't make so much sense but you get what I mean.

"Yeah, okay. Nice talking with you Mr. Behls." I said that every time I was done 'talking with him'. He just grinned and nodded. I just don't get how you could go your whole life and not say a word. My dad told me that before Mrs. Behls died he was the biggest talker out there. He would drive around on his little golf cart around the campground and would stop to talk with anyone who was outside. He's still a sweet man but everything has changed ever since the funeral. This was before I was even born so he hasn't talked at all since then. Well, except the time I was 8.

I walked back down the hill kicking a pebble the whole way. I always have to kick the same one, even if it goes flying across the street I still want that pebble. Yeah I know it's weird.

I got into my camper and sat down I figured I would catch up on the rest of my friends' worlds... so I went on Facebook. People really don't have lives. It's either their favorite song for the week, how their going to the mall or reposts. So I got off that and went to Vine I always laugh my butt off when I see those. I sat there for about a half hour watching them when my mom came in.

"Hey honey, what are you up to?" She said bringing in the dishes from lunch that were on the picnic table.

"Nothing, just on Vine." I said not looking up but turning down the volume on my phone because I knew my mom would be mad if she heard any very bad swear words or something inappropriate, not that she would know what it meant anyway.

"Oh well, Jenni is outside," Right when she said her name I looked up. "and she's looking for you."

"Okay." I got up from the couch locked my phone and threw it on the couch behind me. I walked out of the camper and saw Jenni crouched down playing with our obnoxious puppy, Playtoh.

She looked over for a split second to see who was coming out of the camper and then went back to the dog. "Oh my gosh your puppy is just adorable!!" She said ruffling his fur.
