Spencer

Once we made it inside of my house I went towards the kitchen while Jordan stayed in the living room. If we're going to have this talk then I believe having some kind of water intake will help us try to get somewhere. I pass him a bottle of water before taking a seat on the bar stool.

"So," I start off before taking a sip of water. "What is that you want to start with first?"

He chuckles, "are you really trying to do small talk right now?"

"Look man I'm tired of the bullshit ass games just like you are. I'm tired of all of the running around, half ass answers, puzzling my brain just to put two and three together and ending up with some off the wall answer. So no I am not trying to do small talk, I'm trying to see what it is that you want to know first so that I can give you the right answer the right way or hell give you an answer in general because I don't have all the answers. Now again what is it that you want to know first?"

"What was that night about Spence? The night of the dinner and we come back to the apartment to just chill and we see you in handcuffs and being taken to the back of the police car. Olivia is crying and both of y'all are apologizing."

"One question before answering. Did you remember seeing the text on the phone?"

He nods in silence.

"That night secrets were revealed. A secret from my past with Dalton and a secret from the past that included me, ya sister and unfortunately Dalton as well. I paid him a visit that night with Shawn to set some things straight with him. Words were exchanged, but I didn't allow his words to get to me, but Shawn on the other hand was a hothead after hearing his wife & daughter's names being brought up which is completely understandable. In the midst of getting Shawn back to the car he asked me a question that struck me like a bullet and immediately the wheels in my head began to turn."

"What was the question?"

"Well it wasn't a question but more of a statement, but he said I wonder who would've made a great dad, you or me? And it hurt me because she never did mention to me that there was a possibility that it wasn't mine."

"Wait so—hold up," he places the bottle of water down and sits up. "She was with you guys around the same timeframe?"

"Had to been for him to say that."

"Somethings not making sense, Spence. That that can't—that can't be right. She said the incident involving the baby with Dalton happened before—"

"Before college was actually starting? J, that summer of freshman year you all were out enjoying your summer vacation. She had some classes to take to get her credits up and I stayed back for practice and summer workouts. Later that night one of the teammates had a party and we went to and enjoyed ourselves. After we came back to my room she allowed her feelings to come out and one thing led to another. Her and Dalton had a run in issue that same day which is why she hung out with me I'm guessing."

"Then days after things were good between them and one thing led to another with them. Was she in love with you both?"

"Jordan," I chuckle before continuing, " that's an answer only your sister can give. As of lately she hasn't been trying to give anyone any answers hence why I've been playing Blues fucking Clues and sitting in the damn thinking chair."

"Well she's about to have a change of heart because we all deserve to know something. Let me see ya keys?"

I shake my head, "no, hell no! You've been drinking and I know how that temper of yours can get. Plus me and her both agreed that we wouldn't let this situation affect the week of the wedding. It's bad enough the engagement was kinda overshadowed by it."

"Spencer," he calls out in the midst of running his hands through his hair.

"Jordan, I'm not letting you leave go over there drunk. Hell I'm not about to let you leave this house while still under the influence. Just because we're over sipping on water, which you haven't even touched yours yet, does not mean we are completely just from drinking that. I understand you're upset and I understand you want answers, but going over there how you are now will not do anything but cause an even bigger scene. You may not want to admit but you know I'm right."

"You are, I won't deny that. I just feel like I failed at protecting her and I'm angry at the fact that was I kept in the dark about everything! I-I-I feel like I've should've been the first to know something or to just know anything."

"That makes two of us. I know I had a hand at failing to protect her. I should've done more than what I did."

"You were literally by her side, Spence. What more could you have done?"

"I could've protected her way better than I did. I didn't do enough like I know I should've."
