This work week was hell.

Just pure, unadulterated hell.

It started Monday after I successfully dropped Dylan off at school on time thanks to my speeding, and made it into work. Carson's car was sure enough parked in that second spot, and I couldn't help but think what he had said when I first told him about John moving his own car.

It was... cute. Our cars next to each other.

Jesus, I was starting to lose my fucking mind wasn't I.

Every time I thought about him, my heart fucking fluttered. I have never, in all thirty-eight years on this planet, spent that amount of time with someone who wasn't family. Not even John. We might've taken business trips together, but he and I preferred to work and stay separately on those, besides the meetings we attended together. We just had very different routines.

That and the man up until the last year or so was dealing with a partner I wanted to fucking strangle.

Now that John had given me the go ahead, I was in the process of fully bankrupting Pierre's company, moving stocks behind the scenes and pulling his investors and shareholders, passing them over to Terry Enterprises. He had sent me one nasty email come Monday morning, to which I simply replied with his current tanked income percentages.

Sometimes less was more.

Since landing John in fucking jail, John was fully done with the man, and if there was ever a financial bed to never climb into, into was mine, and he was very quickly realizing just how much I held back due to John's wishes.

Now he was getting the full Don treatment, and I had every means to financially fuck the hell out of him.

I then received an unexpected call from Alex Monday afternoon.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked, holding the phone against my shoulder as I finished up a pivot table for the company's overtime budget. It wasn't looking great.

"Hey, just checking in. Looks like Christian and I will be taking a short trip to New York this week."

Great, I thought. Just great.

"Why can't you just come?" I practically begged.

Alex laughed as he replied with "you know I can't do that. He's the owner of the company."

"Is he?" I countered. "If every one of Ivanov's employees were lined up in front of a massive ditch Soviet Union execution style and was asked to name exactly what that man did, everyone would be dead. Including you."

That earned me one hearty laugh, something that told me Alex agreed even though he probably wouldn't outwardly admit it.

"We'll be there Thursday to Friday. John was thinking maybe we could have dinner at your place Thursday night, but I told him I'd check with you first."
