"What's the time, gramps?" I asked, hanging up some additional saddle equipment in Shadow's designated stall.

"Looks like it's going on 11... why don't you go find Em and them, hang out with your friends for a bit before the first competition starts? Lou and I should be fine to stay with Shadow and Eris." He offered, pulling a large smile from me almost instantly.

"You're the best!" I rushed out.

"Remember that next time I put you on hay duty." Gramps chuckled.

"And just make sure you're back here before 1!" My mum added, called out to me but I was already beelining it towards the exits. I had about two hours before Em and I would be held up back here for a good majority of the day, and I planned to utilize every bit of that time, however short it sounded.

I assumed that Em would probably take Serenity, Don, and Dylan through the concessions first to check out food and drinks. Em and I were of course prohibited from drinking any liquor today since we were competing, but Serenity and Don were more than free to indulge.

Sure enough, I spotted them in line to get hot dogs at one of the wooden stands closer to the bar. Most folks were already in line for food at this time, especially as we drew closer to the first event, but there were still some that I could see out in the parking lot tailgating. Bringing booze was common here, however you could only bring the booze bought at the bar, inside the arena, which made sense... otherwise I think we would see a lot more drunk folks than we needed to, and this was still mainly a family event.

Serenity was actually the first to spot me as I neared the hot dog stand since she was crouched down talking to Dylan while they waited in line to the left of me. However I heard my name being called to my right as soon as I passed the bar.

"Carson!" My head whipped over to my right at a familiar voice, but before I could even fully turn my head in her direction, I was quickly almost full on tackled by a woman I instantly recognized.

"Scarlett!" I grinned, hugging this tall woman back who, even as the years progressed and my build grew stronger, still managed to knock the absolute wind out of me.

"Calm down," Sawyer chastised his wife immediately as he also approached us from the walkway to the entrance. I couldn't help but laugh as I let her go before pulling Sawyer in himself for a tight half hug. "Good to see you, man." He gave my back one firm pat, but I was careful not to pull him in too close because of the small hand he was holding belonging to the small person at his other side.

"You too, Sawy, and it's alright," I assured him, right as I felt two small arms wrap themselves around my legs tight. "Well look who it is," I found myself grinning down at the little girl who had first tucked herself a bit behind her dad before she recognized me. "Ms. Riley, I think you may have grown another inch or two here. And the strength of those arms of yours? What are these two feeding you?" This golden-brown haired, hazel eyed kiddo returned that with the biggest smile.
