The noise outside

-------------------------------------------------------------
JULIA TROUGHTON
(wiping a tear)
They look so happy, don't they?

MALCOLM BATES
(nodding)
That they do. Oliver's a good lad. I couldn't ask for a better son-in-law.

JULIA TROUGHTON
(curiously)
Speaking of Oliver, what did you whisper to him at the altar? If you don't mind me asking.

MALCOLM BATES
(chuckling)
Oh, nothing much. Just welcomed him to the family and asked him to take care of my little girl.

JULIA TROUGHTON
(smiling)
That's lovely, Malcolm. I'm sure he will.

MALCOLM BATES
(changing the subject)
Say, Julia, you know the area better than I do. Where's the best Chinese takeaway around here? I was thinking we could all have a family meal together later.

JULIA TROUGHTON
(thoughtfully)
Oh, that's a wonderful idea! There's a great place called Golden Dragon just down the high street. Their crispy duck is to die for.

MALCOLM BATES
Sounds perfect. I'll give them a ring later and order for everyone.

As Julia and Malcolm continue their conversation, the scene shifts to the front of the church where Kathy and Oliver are posing for photos.

The WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER is arranging Kathy and Oliver for their photos. A small crowd of guests watches, including some bridesmaids and groomsmen.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
(enthusiastically)
Mr. Troughton, how would you like to lift your wife in the picture?

OLIVER TROUGHTON
(grinning mischievously)
Oh yes, you know that I'll be doing some carrying of my own later behind closed doors.

KATHY TROUGHTON
(playfully swatting Oliver's arm, blushing)
Oliver! Don't tell them our secret plan.

OLIVER TROUGHTON
(laughing)
Sorry, love. Got carried away with the excitement.

The guests nearby chuckle at the couple's banter.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
(smiling)
Alright, lovebirds. Let's get this shot. Mr. Troughton, if you could lift Mrs. Troughton...

Oliver bends down and scoops Kathy up in his arms. She wraps her arms around his neck, both of them laughing.

KATHY TROUGHTON
(whispering to Oliver)
Don't you dare drop me, Oliver Troughton.

OLIVER TROUGHTON
(whispering back)
Wouldn't dream of it, Mrs. Troughton.

The photographer snaps several photos as the newlyweds beam at each other, lost in their own world despite the crowd around them.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Perfect! That's going to be a beautiful shot.

As Oliver gently sets Kathy down, they share a tender kiss, eliciting 'awws' from the onlooking guests.

JEFF MATTHEWS
(calling out from the crowd)
Save some for the honeymoon, you two!

Everyone laughs, including Kathy and Oliver.

JIMMY DUFFIELD:
Anyone got a hankerchief, I've got a nosebleed.

DEBBIE SUGDEN:
This is Travis's.

JIMMY DUFFIELD:
Thanks, i hate it when it happens.

DEBBIE SUGDEN:
It happens to the best of us. Don't be threatening about it.

(Across the road, a silver Vauxhall pulls up. It's Julia's brother Billy, who gets out and uses binoculars to see her)

ROSAMUND HOWARD
(excitedly)
There she is, Uncle Billy! Aunt Julia looks beautiful.

BILLY HOWARD
(smiling fondly)
That she does, Rosie. It's been too long since we've seen her.

ROSAMUND HOWARD
(hesitantly)
Do you think she'll be happy to see us? After everything that happened...

BILLY HOWARD
(sighing)
I hope so, love. Family is family, after all. We've all made mistakes, Let's head to that pub she owns. The Royal Oak Pub, wasn't it? We'll surprise her there later. Give her some time to  with the wedding.

ROSAMUND HOWARD
(grinning)
Sounds perfect. I can't wait to see her face!
