(Oliver carries Kathy over the threshold)

Malcolm Bates:
What became of Rhiannon?

Oliver Troughton:
She is staying back with Jeffrey. If there's a man in the universe that has safe hands, it's that man.

Caroline Bates:
He seems a wrong-un. His killing culture isn't appealing don't know how he's got a wife.

Oliver Troughton:
Maybe he is, but me and him are like brothers, and he has helped me out more than i can ever repay. His wife was a bridesmaid, and no doubt Jeffrey will get off with her tonight.

Malcolm Bates:
Was he the one who introduced you to Katherine.

Oliver Troughton:
Umm... no, that was Andrews good turn to me for the Maxine thing....anyway, when's the food coming.

Malcolm Bates:
Soon, I've ordered it for delivery, you should go and change your dress Katherine, was the dress bought or rented.

Oliver Troughton:
Bought, your dads right, you go and change. Maybe when we have kids, we can show them how we did it.

Kathy Troughton:
Could you help me, mum?

(Kathy and Caroline exit)

Malcolm Bates:
Thanks for letting us stay, i know it came out of nowhere.

Oliver Troughton:
You saved my skin, Kathy wanted to go away for her wedding night, but everywhere i tried, all they said they were very busy. Anyway, one good turn deserves another.

Malcolm Bates:
You keep many certificates around the house?

Oliver Troughton:
National insurance, birth certificate, my graduation certificate, what exactly is the one you want to see.

Malcolm Bates:
What did you graduate in?

Oliver Troughton:
High-grade mathematics, they call it "Master of Mathematics," i was always different a sort of black sheep in my family.

Malcolm Bates:
You had a dream and pursued it, i bet my dad wished i had a significant career like you have.

Oliver Troughton:
Barney was always the quiet and polite person, Andrew was always the war hero. I was always the Geek who brought trouble. The only thing i ever wanted was my mother and father to love me and say it to me back, just once.

Malcolm Bates:
Julia loves your bones like us and Kathy. We love you even if Luther and the whole world hate you.

Oliver Troughton:
I remember being in the room when my dad said to Andrew, "You were always my favourite son." How do you compete with that, constantly knowing that no matter how hard you bleed, how hard you care, you'll never be him, you'll never match up to him.

Malcolm Bates:
Imagine you with two exes, Andrew and Luthers day will come i can promise you that. You're like a son to me. Not many people get that distinction. I and you we have two women who love us who'd do anything for us.

Oliver Troughton:
I never meant to become a real estate agent, you know, I wanted to play football. i had the physique for it, but there is very little opportunity for it up here. Even when i dated and married Lucy, everyone had an opinion.

Malcolm Bates:
You don't strike me as a man who listens to idle gossip. Who cares how he's perceived. You're a very smart man. You've got a bachelors and masters degree in everything known to man. You're not a thicky, like people outside the community are.

Oliver Troughton:
Why am i like this, i shouldn't be bearing my soul to my father-in-law.

Malcolm Bates:
I'm glad you did and when you and Kathy have kids, i want you to reassure them that no matter how turbulent life gets, that you and Kathy will be with them come hell or high water.

Oliver Troughton:
I can do that, thanks Malcolm.

Caroline Bates:
You ok Oliver, you look like you've been crying.

Oliver Troughton:
I'm just cleansing my soul before this chicken curry.

Malcolm Bates:
Oliver... if you need to talk to me, please let me in. I'm not just your father-in-law i can be your friend as well.

Oliver Troughton:
Thanks so much, Malcolm.

Caroline Bates:
Malcolm, would you like to tell me about it.

Malcolm Bates:
When we get back to Scarborough, my lips are sealed till then.

Kathy Troughton:
Do you ever leave that suit, Oliver?

Oliver Troughton:
I'm like Superman. I may be needed for a home sale at a moments notice.

Kathy Troughton:
One day, I'll get you in your pyjamas and slippers.

Oliver Troughton:
And we'll drink some hot chocolate together, you try and stop me.

Malcolm Bates:
The food is here. You'd better go and round up the cattle while i dish out.

Oliver Troughton:
Aye-Aye Captain.
