Lunaris clasped his new staff.
Their travel here wasn't exactly a quiet one, never mind the additional desert scorpion nearby the area that ultimatly was pre-grilled with on hit by Nerivie. He had watched in awe how she dodged the attacks of each of everyone of the creatures, and how she was able to fight them seemingly effortless.
Because of the „voluntairy donation" by the beast, they had quite a feast at the end of the day, without touching their supplies. The receipes and suggestions he read about in the book made the time he spend reading and writing them down really worthwhile.
He had watched her not only enjoying her meal, but also partially wolfing it down with sounds of utter glee and happiness because of the taste. He had to admit: for things that awfully looking and behaving, they were really tasty, especially with the local spices and herbs added.
Now, he looked down what seemed to be a steep hill of sand into nowhere.
„I don't think it's save to slide it down like that." Nerivie spoke openly what he thought and Lunaris nodded hefty.
„What we gonna do? There is no other entrance here." She mumbled and started to broot. „Maybe I can stop the fall with a timed explosion. Not pleasant, but worth a try."
Lunaris opened his eyes wide: What?
„Let me go first, you follow me if it's save." Nerivie said, and went down the opening before Lunaris could stop her.
He watched, how she slid down the slope made of sand into the darkness, and just a moment later he saw her faint flamelet rising from the dark to light her way down.
He could barely see it when the movement of it stopped. It was smaller than a small bug when it suddenly rose to a large ball.
„Woah!" he heard her astounded say, before she declared: „you can slide down, it's save!"
Lunaris wasn't so sure about it, but the light of what used to be a small flamelet to light the way turned into a small underground sun made it easy for him to assess the surroundings. He couldn't make out a lot of details from his position, but it was a a huge room, with columns made of sandstone and detailed reliefs.
„What are you doing up there? It's really cool down here!" Nerivie yelled up and he looked down in fear. It was quite the distance and his magician lady was quite small from up here. But then again, making her wait after she invited him on an adventure would be rude, wouldn't it?
The aspiring light magician gulped, looking down the distance of his position to where Nerivie stood.
Everything is gonna be fine. She made it, too! He tried to calm himself, when he sat down on the edge where the sand would turn this whole endavour into a slip-and-slide. Lunaris pushed himself over the edge and started to screetch as soon as his body excilerated over his perceived feeling of safety. In his mind, he was already hitting a wall or something, unable to stop the approaching impact from happening.
To his surprise, his speed slowled down quick when he reached the buttom of the slope and looked around, just to see nerivies face, trying to supress a laughter.
Lunaris pouted, which send her into a laughing fit, holding her belly: „I, I am...sorry!" she pressed through between her laughing, „I am sorry, really!" she kept giggling and lost her balance and fell over, laughing.
He looked at her and started to laugh, too.
Somehow, this was really fun.
„Wh-ere?" he tried to ask where they were. Rather than where, what it was. But he only got one word through.
