The fight was fierce, and Lunaris would have never thought something looking so harmless would be so fierce.

The the jell-o like monster absorbed just about everything: blunt force, magic- heck, he learned all these spells that influence the abilities of an opponment so Nerivie had an easy play with just about anything. But these, too, were just absorbed.

So frustrating! How did they ended up here?

Well, first of all, this big ass slime of all slimes sat on a hoard of gold. Not any gold coin, but really old ones. Not to mention the antique scriptures and scrolls- there were even some artifacts mixed in.

And even if Nerivie had trouble to ignore all the riches sitting under this jiggly booty, the exit was blocked by His Majesty's hoard. When Nerivie tried to carefully retreat, she stumbled over one of the „peasant slimes", which made a sound of distress, waking him up.

And thus, a number of highly flammable pieces of seemed to be really flammable jellies were spit by the big Dragon slime at them, engaging them in battle.

„I SAID CALM DOWN! WHY DON'T YOU CALM DOWN ALREADY?!" Nerivie yelled for the 100th time already. Lunaris saw the exhaustion taking over her, and he had to admit: he didn't feel great.

Nerivie jumped quick out of the way of any of these blazing fire jellies, and the space got Tighter and tighter around them. Slowly, the floor became magma.

„this is bad. This is really, really bad! I didn't know they were so resitent against magic! At least, you should be able to slow him down, so we can escape, but even that failed! How can something absorb that much magic?" he heard Nerivie ask.

Gorsh, I wonder! Lunaris thought, slowly feeling his fear and anxiety rise again. He gave himself a spell that allowed him to move faster, without the raise of exhaustion added, just to jump out of the way from a heavy slap of the Dradon Slime's tail. The mark it left on the floor was significant.

That could be me, broken like that little flower this thing got with one smash! Scary! The thought shot through Lunaris heat and the level of his fear tightened his chest. He suddenly had the feeling to having a have time breathing.

Was it exhaustion? Or his fear? A quick check of Nerivie said, that she was getting exhausted, too.

Right! Using magic energy came with the price of quicker physical exhaustion. Nerivie's physicial must be better than his, but yet, she was already this much exhausted. And of course she was: his lady has been hogging the attention of the beast during the fight, so he would be mostly out of danger.

Get yourself together! You didn't studied so hard for you to die here like an accident! Not after you found something you're good at! Not after you met somebody like her! He took a deep breath, trying to focus and press back the emotion that felt like depairation, panic and exhaustion.

He watched, how Nerivie bombarded the creature in a round of fireballs, just to get the big guy away from him and the exit.

Is she...trying to sacrafice herself so I can run away? He thought, watching her, while his body started to feel heavy. No. No. I am not doing that. No! I refuse to leave you here! I promised to stay with you, no matter what! No! But I don't want to die! And you must live, too! His frantic thoughts took over.

There must be something I can do! Something that beats a mushy beast like this one! Every magic it hits, every hit with the weapons we carry just was useless! What can we do?

He had moved to the hoard, trying to dodge a volley of the burning jelly the dragon slime threw out of his mouth. Lunaris lost his balance, fell onto the pile of gold, and touched something.
