Lunaris watched Nerivie closely.
Her body language spoke of the anxiety, the fear, even when she tried to hide it. He knew her normal self by now very well, maybe even by heart. So how can her absend-mindedness, that looked in all directions, absorbing all impressions go into the woman who pulled her hood into her face?
Lunaris had gotten some snacks, and drinks, and lead had grabbed her hand, leading her to the place he wanted her to see. He didn't pull her behind himself like she used to, and stopped when she fell behind ever so slightly.
The temperatures of the desert strangely didn't raise on the level they were before, the heat was annoying, but compared to before, not eating away at one's sanity. When they climbed the stairs and the ladder to the wall a few weeks before they fought a giant millipede on, Nerivie flinched as she was about to run away.
Lunaris gently pushed her on, until they stood on the wall, where a lot of people already gathered and on the edge of it, sat, talked, and enjoyed to view on a lake that hadn't been there before. The waters of the flood had been declined. The lake was framed by a strange rock formation, that had a crescent moon shape trough it, as something from above had evaporated the stone. The sun went down, and the water reflected in all colours of red and gold.
And just when that fireball touched the horizon, it seemed to fall into the giant lake.
„All these people gathering here to see that every day are getting annoying." One of the guards complained.
„Leave them be! I mean it's a pretty view, isn't it?" Another responded.
„When the trade routes re-open, they'll all gonna come for the damn view! We gotta work, man!" the first reminded him.
„Then let's sell tickets? We can make a construction of some kind for tourists or whatever?" the second tried to solve the issue.
„Who are we? The city's authority? Not our problem to solve! We gonna block the way up here for some reason as soon as the gates are open again anyway!" another chimed in.
„Sure, sure. But isn't it a great view?" the second asked.
„Yes, it is. And it's also a great water reservoir. That and the planned one will do for much longer. Is it regulating the temperature here?"
„Nah, that's just the regular short period before the area turns into a wasteland. As long as we have all this water here, we're gonna be able to hang out without getting burnt to crisp. If we hate a lot of them, maybe it would work."
„But IT IS a great view?"
„Yeah. Let's hope it lasts until the next rain season."
Nerivie listening to the conversation, was confused: why wasn't anybody getting mad about how that little millipede was hit by a far too big spell, that nearly destroyed the whole area, and would have gone throw the precious water ressource? Why-
Her thoughts were interrupted when Lunaris took her hand again and lead her to a place where two people already sat, staring at the scenery: it was Corsa and Kursiye. They were surrounded by a few snacks, and and talked about something while staring at the newformed lake.
A few steps later, Nerivie caught „-and after reading that, I am sure there is a larger issue on hand. These motherfuckers aren't supposed to have that much defense about higher spelled magic. Especially against- Aw, you made it!" Kursiye looked at Lunaris and Nerivie, genuinely happy.
„Yo!" Corsa gleemed and took a big bite of whatever food was rolled in the piece of paper. From Nerivie's perspective, it looked like a sandwhich, filled to the brim with meat and various vegetable. Corsa patted to the space next to him, looking at Nerivie expectatly.
