This thing was an issue. A few more slaps with its head, and the wall would crumble. No wonder Nerivie was trying to keep it from doing exactly that by shooting one blast after another at it.

Look, look you moron! This is what a true magician does! Using their brain! Do you even have one? He thought snarky, side-eying Corsa.

„These are Lunaris and Corsa!" she introduced them quickly to Kursiye. „This is Kursiye! She's gonna help us!" A nod of acknowledgement before another sequence of three elements attacked the centipede. However, it remained firmly anchored in the rock of the wall. „Corsa," Kursiye yelled, „can you push this thing into the air and lock it there with ice or something?"

„I mean, sure, but it needs to be over all the water out there before I can kick it!" he said, splashing the centipede from the side.

„I can do that!" Kursiye yelled.

„Lunaris can do the barrier!" Nerivie added, and her apprentice nodded quickly, with a strong determination.

„Ok, so, I pull it off, you push it off, Corsa keeps it in the air, as far away as possible, and Lunaris puts a barrier around it as soon as Nerivie puts her destructive spell in it! This sounds like a good plan!"

„Well, let's do it then! I am afraid the wall won't hold any longer without any repair!"

Lunaris focused.

One to make them move faster.
One to boost their magic.
Curse to the creature, so it's magic defense lowered.
Curse to the creature, so it's muscles became weak.

Then, as if the next volley of Nerivie's fireballs was the sign to attack, they started.

Corsa and Nerivie pushed, while Kursiye threw a plant seed over the wall, and it burst open as soon as it touched the surface of the roaring water. It grew into a vine that became a tree, the branches twisting in all directions, and anchored themselves on the opposite side of the wall in one of the rocks jutting out of the water, twisting around it until the rock itself became a tree. Then branches shot out like tendrils from both growths, grabbed at the centipede and pulled it away,

the beast fought with all its might, but the last of its feet broke out of the cracks in the rocks of the wall. the huge insect tried to curl up to defend itself, but more tendrils growing out of nowhere prevented it from doing so. Then a gigantic wave of water shot out of the roaring flood into the almost black, cloud-covered sky, which was illuminated for a moment by a bright ball of light and fire that could easily have been the sun itself, before a barrier blocked both the centipede and the artificial sun from Nerivie's hands. Water shot up again, and the ball flew in the opposite direction before Nerivie, waiting for the right moment, muttered just one word: "Break!"

Out of nowhere, all hell broke loose!

this little ball of light and fire that shone brightly AS the sun now became brighter, and hotter THAN the sun. Everyone had to avert their gaze, because the light blinded everyone who looked in that direction through the eyelids and would surely leave bright spots and flickers in the field of vision for some time.

When it was over, a hole gaped in the landscape, the rocks of the oasis canyon had burned up in the explosion. The crater was impressive, and it was a miracle that this new depression in the landscape had not torn open or damaged the protective layers of the ancient water reservoir.

"Ugh, not again." Nerivie muttered, visibly uncomfortable when she saw the result.

"Wh-what was that?" Corsa stuttered, astonished.

"My dragon star." Nerivie replied quietly, and the unpleasant feeling in her stomach grew.

"You... what... Why... But how can... That's not possible... You are?" the mouths of Kuriye and Corsa were wide agape, just like everybody else who witnessed the spectacle.

Nerivie sighed and looked at Kursiye and Corsa: "I'm sorry! I can't handle this! It was only the third time and... I'm really uncomfortable!"

"YOU really are the nine-tailed dragon devourer?"

"No. I'm just Nerivie, a fire mage!" she responded, visibly uncomfortable and embaressed

Nerivie turned to Lunaris, who was speechless with astonishment at first, then as proud as punch. He couldn't help but grin maliciously at Corsa, whose mouth was still wide open: And that's why, thought Lunaris, you're only a second-rate mage! And she's a queen of magic!

Nerivie stared at the gap in the landscape through which the raging stream now pushed and poured. She chewed nervously on her lower lip. HOPEFULLY this wouldn't cause trouble...

And as if the sky was witnessing this great battle and was pleased with the spectacle presented, the raindrops became smaller and fewer day by day, and the black clouds became lighter and brighter.

Until one day the clouds broke and the rays of the sun touched the waters of the desert.
