!! Trigger Warning !! Gore right below

I don't know what was going on around me; apart from that, there was a man-eating monster chowing down on two of my friends. Yīkào was so calm about all this while I was shivering into his shoulder like an absolute pussycat, but at least it was a good excuse to be close to him. Unfortunately, for my poor ears, I got to hear their bones crushing and cracking as the creature ate them raw... I wanted to throw up, the gags threatening to come out, but I kept them in to keep ourselves hidden. One thing that did make me feel better was that Yīkào's arms were around my back; it didn't matter if it was loosely; it was still reassuring me that we were going to be okay. It soon came to an end, and I could hear their heavy feet and fists gently stamping into the soil and going away. I ended up taking a shaky breath in response.

"Is it safe now?" I shakily whispered into Yīkào's shoulder, my grip still tight.

He didn't answer until a couple of moments later, "Yeah, we've got to be quick though."

I can be quick—anything to get the hell out of here. We stood up, and I squeezed his hand, frantically looking around for the monster that I didn't get to see. A part of me wanted to see it, but the other thought that I'd just squeal and attract it towards us. That was until I saw the two bodies, instinctively covering my mouth and part of my nose to block everything out, but it was pointless because I still felt like gagging my guts out. I should probably retract that statement because I couldn't see their guts—their bodies ripped open, their bones, respiratory, digestive, and nerve systems on full display. One of them stuck to the gate, and the other one was lying at the bottom. Yīkào tried to drag me along over the fence that had been bent and collapsed to the other side of the grass. We were quick to get out there and back to the river where that stupid log was. I was too sick to go any further, and my body just felt like absolute shit.

"What's wrong, Adam?" noticing how I was being a bit slower even with him dragging me, and usually I'm the one dragging him along. Yet no big deal though; I only saw two kids' bodies destroyed and torn in half.

"I just feel a bit ill, but I'll be fine." I lied straight up.

"You look like you've seen a dead body—oh, forgot you have." Yīkào laughed a little. I swear to god that boy acted like a psychopath sometimes or any other name that makes you laugh at other people's failures—and not care at all.

"That's not funny!" I weakly said as I gagged, vomit threatening to come up and out of my stomach.

I stared at the ground for a moment before looking back up again as I heard Yīkào squatting over; confusion hit me. He certainly wasn't going to 'throw it back' for me, although I wouldn't be complaining if he did, or he was pooing in his pants. That doesn't seem any better than the first one.

"What are you doing?" still holding my mouth to try not to vomit as the images of the bodies played through my mind.

"Giving you a piggyback; you're unwell, and I can carry you. You're not that heavy, plus I promised that I'd take care of you, didn't I?" He wasn't wrong, but I didn't want to weigh him down. I reluctantly got up on his back, and once Yīkào was comfortable with the grip, he started to move again, going down the rocks and back up the other side, using the way he said was easier, and it sure was.

Yīkào was nice like this, which was the reason why I kept being so reluctant to be his friend, and why didn't I exactly care how he just laughed off the fact that he just saw two dead kids? Yīkào was unique like that, and I couldn't ask for anything better or more than him; he was my comfort during these times, and I loved him for that. Ignoring my mind rambling, he was walking at a good enough pace to get us out of there in the next couple of minutes; that pace was soon to slow down as I saw that he had a small and dirty instrument on him. How come I didn't see that sooner?
