The quest in a person's mind for the meaning of life seems to me, to be as elementary as curiosity. Humans scientifically are quite an extraordinary thing, a happening. To science humans are explained as a random act of things going good for us. Natural Selection. Evolution. In the feeble human thinking process we create religion. To religion we are simply included in divine nature's plan because God has a plan for us?
Do we feel this way because we feel the need to be a part of some grand importance? I think we may look for some underlying meaning to live because we cannot stomach the thought that we exist only to exist. We go through day after day of pointless exercises that bore us. We seek out to entertain ourselves and have fun.
Only when we have returned to the monotony of schedules do we have time to stop and think about how we aren't really happy at all. It is a survival technique to go out and look for something better. It keeps us interested and moving forward. (I think this is what we call happiness) Happy is just an illusion, a word for staying occupied momentarily. If we are happy we are just fixated with a particular aspect of our lives at the time.
